I'm not sure you can avoid it. I'm not into that sort of stuff but these days the porn solicitors seem to be trying to trick me into opening the spam. They've used names of people I know or recognizable references that have lured me in to clicking on them here and there.
As for a kid with an e-mail account. My DD is a Brownie and although my DH is in IT Security neither of my kids have access without me standing over them. If I get tricked I can't imagine what the kids would see. I respect your position but this is dangerous terrain and I would tread carefully. Remember you and DD are new to this but the predators have this down to a science because its all they do with their pathetic little lives. Its my guess that the only thing you can do about it is go into her account every day right before she does and delete everything from junk, from spam and from the garbage can. Then tell her not to click on JUNK EVER.
