How to go last minute?!

Hi guys!!

So, my husband and I are taking a cruise on August 22nd and have decided to fly down to Orlando one day early to hit one of the parks. At this point, I'm not really sure how to do so because we don't want to purchase a ticket if it's just going to get rained out all day so we were going to wait and purchase the day of, which would be Sunday Aug 21st. Will we be out of luck with any rides? When we went in October I know that it was really hard to get the rides you want. Does anybody on here ever do last minute day trips to Disney and toe do they work out? I don't want to waste our time or money! I know I could do a last-minute day trip to Universal Studios and it would be okay, but I'm a little nervous because Disney has to be so planned out.

Your best bet for same day FP is Magic Kingdom. Keep in mind that a one day ticket to Mk costs a little more than the other parks

You'll still be able to book FPs even for headliners although it will be for later in the day. If you plan on being in the parks at park opening, you'll get in a few rides with short Standby waits.

Because I always enter parks with a CM friend, we sometimes don't schedule in FPs until we are headed to a park. We've booked Soarin,' ToT, RnRC, Pirates, HM etc. on our way to the parks.

Be sure to set up your MDE account before you arrive. Link your tickets as soon as they are purchased and book your FPs.

Since you're waiting until you get there to buy tickets, I'd keep an eye on wait times that week and decide then between WDW and US. Are you thinking MK or one of the other parks?

Thank you everyone for your replies! We are actually thinking of only doing Hollywood Studios because when we went in October that was the only one that got rained out for us. So if we aren't able to do that Park we will probably head to Universal.
