I plan on giving my DS teachers and therapists gift cards for Christmas. My question is how do you give them? Just in a card or do you use something else? This is my first year giving them so I need some ideas.

TIA!

I always give gift cards to teachers and I put them in a card with a little box of chocolate or an ornament.

In a card with a personal note of appreciation written in it. To me that's the best gift of all!

I usually just put it in one of those clear celophane treat sacks. I throw in a few wrapped candies (like Hershey kisses) and tie it with some cute ribbon.

Well, my daughter's teacher loves the Gamecocks, peanut m&m, and Starbucks. So, I am buying her a Gamecocks travel mug, putting a big bag of peanut m&ms and a gift card to Starbucks, wrapped in some cellophane with ribbon.

I am open to suggestions though so I look forward to posts to this thread.:goodvibes

As a teacher, I always appreciate the gift cards even more when I get it in a card with a personal note in it. (from the student or the parent!)

A few years ago I gave all my employees a gift card to Logan's Steakhouse. I bought little "peanut" buckets at the Target dollar spot, filled them with peanuts and tucked the gift card inside. I used cellophone to wrap them up, tied them with homemade pom-pom's and added a homemade card. It was a HIT!

You can do all kinds of things with Gift Cards. Buy takeout containers, fill with Chinese noodles, a fortune cookie and gift card to a Chinese restaurant. If you want to do a Starbucks GC, fill a coffee mug with coffee beans and stick in the GC.

Those are CUTE!!!!!!

This year I am getting plant like Christmas trees that are decorated and attatching the gift card to it. The card will say "Thank you for helping me grow!"

This is for a 4th grade teacher...what do you think??

I'm guessing that you didn't tell the people that the cards are in the peanuts? I wouldn't find the card.....:lmao: I have stuff still wrapped up , just didn't want to eat the stuff in there so I put it aside and they just sit in the cabinet.

Oop saw the card in the first picture.....

I like that idea! I got a plant at the end of the school year. The parent made flower shaped pockets out of heavy construction paper and taped popsicle sticks to them, and stuck them in the plant. In each flower pocket (there were five of them) was a $10 gift card to different places (target, home depot, wawa, panera, and starbucks). She attached a card that said "thanks for helping me grow"... It was a really really nice gift!!

I buy the tiny gift bags or the decorated bags that look like brown lunch bags, and I put tissue paper in them, and tie curly ribbon around the handles (of the gift bags) or fold them over and put a bow on the lunch bag type bags.

Along these lines also, I plan to do this at the end of the year.
Bake and frost flower-shaped cookies. Line a terra cotta pot ( or a nicer one) with rafia or a calico napkin. Print the poem and attach to a plant poke to tuck in with floral cookies.

Poem:
Thank you Mrs. _____ for the job that you've done.
You've enriched our lives, each and ever one.
I'll think of you fondly with each passing year.
As I build on the foundation that you started here.

Teachers plant seeds that grow forever!!

I usually give bookstore ones with a bookmark, or coffee ones in a mug. One year, I bought those little stuffed animals for my nieces that have the pocket you slip the gift card into.

Last year he had 2 teachers and i got together with another parent to give each a $15.00 gc to the movies and a $15.00 gc to a restaurant. So it only cost me $30.00 since we both paid 1/2. This year he has 4 teachers, so I'm not sure what to do.

What amount GCs do you give the teachers? Just curious

We have some pretty affluent people who send their kids to our preschool, so the amounts I usually receive are anywhere from $25 to $50. I also have a co-teacher who receives the same as I do.

Honestly, I'm thrilled with any amount. And I would much rather receive a $10 gift card to a place like Dunkin Donuts than a $10 candle. I have a closet FULL of candles...and I've had some of them for YEARS.

As a teacher, I really appreciate any gifts. (Although I don't expect any.) I get touched when a student makes me a card. Perhaps you should have your child make a thank-you card and put the gift card inside that. :lovestruc
