We usually just make dining reservations in the parks. This trip we may want to venture to other resorts to eat. How would we get there? For example if we are staying a POR and going to breakfast else where, do we need to take the bus to a park and then take the next bus to the resort? Seems like that would be a huge time commitment.

In a nutshell.... yes. You have to transfer from resort/park/resort. There are no buses that go from resort directly to another resort. Of course, you can always walk to certain resorts from certain parks i.e., MK to Contemporary; Epcot to Boardwalk, etc...

It's probably best to just call a taxi for most resort trips.

Hope you have a wonderful time.

:)

We stayed at POR last year and ate at multiple different resorts. It is easiest when eating at monorail resorts, we would bus to MK then monorail to the resort. We had our car with us so we were able to drive to resorts which was easy and convenient. Just note if you do have a car, that you are not supposed to park at the resort for the entire day, so if you have a breakfast ressie you will need to drive back to POR before heading to the parks. You also can take a cab to the resort which is relatively cheap and MUCH easier than taking multiple buses.

Check out the Transportation Wizard on the Ourlaughingplace website.

Plug in your location and destination, and it will show you several route/transportation options, along with time estimates.

We eat at alot of resorts-Kona, Sanaa & Boma, CA Grill, Cape May, etc...

We try to schedule those ADR's to coordinate with park days. If we are at DHS or Epcot one day, we might choose a Cape May ADR for dinner because we can walk or take the boat over. We might go to Kona for breakfast on an MK day so we can take the bus from our resort to MK & then hop on the monorail, etc...
We go to Boma or Sanaa on DAK days.

It doesn't work for all resorts obviously, but it works for many!:)

Take a cab. We took a cab from Boardwalk to Contemp and on another day to Ohana. Both rides were $10 each including tip. We left the Boardwalk about 15 minutes before our reservation times in the morning, so it was much quicker (and you can add an extra few minutes of sleep in the morning).

Your best bet always to only go to resorts somehow connected to a park. So that pretty much means a monorail resort or something on the Boardwalk area.

Note also that it's a bad idea to try to get a bus *from* a park *to* a resort at breakfast - many of the buses don't pick up at the parks, they're just dropping off.

And note that if you're trying to get to the Beach Club or Boardwalk in the morning by taking an Epcot bus, you may be in trouble because you'll need to go *through* Epcot, which may not be open, to get to the BC.

Sometimes the driver will take you directly to the hotel but you cannot count on that.

And I can concur that buses do not always pick up at parks early, even though the front dest at your hotel might tell you they will! We learned that the hard way!

:thumbsup2 Also, even if Epcot is open, you need a PH if you were planning to visit another park that day since you have to go through Epcot. So go to DHS.
