I'm in the very early stages of planning my dd's 16th birthday in WDW. We will be traveling with another family, also with a birthday girl. I looked at a grand villa but decided I really didn't need all that space, nor spend all those points. So...I think I'm going to go with a two bedroom villa and a studio...give the other couple the master, let the two girls have the 2nd bedroom and dh and I will take the studio. What is the best way to get them as close together as possible, or am I just dreaming? What are my chances of getting them close to each other?

The best chances are to request exactly that when making the reservation. Also, try to check in early in the day and tell the check in desk you are willing to wait for two rooms near each other.

It's just a request, but I'm sure they'll do their best based on who is checking out that day. I think things like going completely non-smoking will make it a little easier as that adds back a little flexibility to the room assignment.

Which resort are you booking?

It will make a little bit of a difference depending on which resort you are booking. If you are in one of the hotel type resorts, they could be a floor apart. At SSR and OKW, they will likely be in the same building at least. When we requested two 2 bedrooms near each other at OKW, we were given units that were back to back. Access was from different stairways, but it was very convenient.

We've been luckiest when we've requested "nearby rooms" at BWV as opposed to at the VWL. 2/2 times we've gotten what we wanted at BWV, 0 out of 3 at VWL.

My home resort...BWV!!! I just want to be on the same floor as everyone else. We'll get there as early as possible, like to get the early morning flight down.

If you have more than 8 people get classified as a Grand Gathering- They will group the rooms together.

Okay...so what kind of view do you have reserved? Preferred View BW, Preferred View Pool/Garden or Standard View?

I'm not stalking you, I promise! If you have Boardwalk View or Standard View, you are already guaranteed to be in the same general "section" of BWV, so even if you're not on the same floor maybe they can get you near a stairwell and you are both close to the same stairwell? Just another option since being on the same floor at BWV could still mean being very f......a.......r apart! :)

Granny is right. Request it when you book. We've been lucky on all of our trips so far and we always have multiple rooms. Our last trip was at SSR and we had three units booked. Two were across from each other and one was one floor below us. I always worry at check in that we'll be far from each other. I didn't realize we could tell them we're willing to wait for rooms close. Thanks for that tip.

Not booked yet....we're not going until '09!!!! Okay, a bit obsessive, but I was just curious. I'm hoping to have boardwalk view reserved. The other family we're going with is a hugely 'deluxe' type family, so we want their view to be terrific. Me, I don't care if I can get a standard view studio. In fact, I may try for a standard view studio for my dh and myself and a boardwalk view 2 bedroom for the other family and our dd's...that way the girls can have the second bedroom to themselves, the 'deluxe' family can have the master bedroom and my dh and I can just pretend none of them exist....:thumbsup2
