How to get to the stables at Fort Wilderness

Hello. Thinking of visiting the horses at Fort Wilderness. (we will be with our grandbaby) We will be staying in the Epcot area. What's the best way to get there? I guess we can bus to MK and take the boat over, but how far are the stables from the dock? Or, I do have a car, but I doubt I can drive there. But if I did, where are the stables in relation to the parking lot. Finally, we can walk over to HS and take a fort Wilderness bus....how are are the stables from the bus depot at FW?

Your thoughts on any of the above (or maybe some I'm not even thinking of) would be appreciated!

Both the boat and the bus from the MK will get you to the area of Fort Wilderness where the horse barn is located. The bus is faster and closer to the barn. The boat is more fun.

It’s not a bad trip from Hollywood Studios. FW is the first stop there, very close to the Skyliner station. This bus, however, will drop you at the “front” of Fort Wilderness from where you will have to catch the internal shuttle to the Pioneer Hall/Settlement area.

I don’t like the commute from Epcot. Unless it’s moved the FW bus stop there is practically in Tampa.

Thanks. I'm wondering how often the buses run from HS to FW. I'm guessing they are probably few and far between. We'll actually have to take the boat from the Swan/Dolphin over to HS. I should have put that in my original question.

Oh...I didn't see that about the internal bus from the FW bus stop to the stables. Forget about it, lol. We'll boat from MK

If you choose to drive you’ll still have to use the internal shuttle. Also, Ft Wilderness gets very strict about visitors around the holidays. At Halloween, for example, I believe no one is allowed but campground guests and people with dining/activity reservations.

You can see the barn as you exit the bus. It’s behind and slightly to the left of the Settlement depot. Our grandson loves the Tri Circle D

You can take the bus from Hollywood Studios to wilderness lodge, then the shuttle bus (yellow) to Fort Wilderness. That bus drops off at almost the front door of the stables. Just tell the bus driver you're headed for the stables to make sure it's the first stop. The ride from Wilderness Lodge to the Settlement bus stop is about 5 minutes.
