Hey there all!! So were going to be going on may 13th to six flags and are staying at the BW park place across from DL. I have no idea how were going to get there, shuttle bus?? taxi?? So Id really appreciate any info you could help me with :D thanks!!!

Getting there is easy.....straight up the 5 freeway. You can rent a car.

Taxi would be $$! Depending on traffic, it is between 1 to 2.5 hours from Disneyland to Magic Mountain. The easiest and least expensive would be to rent a car. Like the previous poster said, they're both right off the 5. A shuttle is likely fairly expensive for both ways (although probably way cheaper than a taxi).

If you absolutely do not want to drive and really want to be conservative with money, you could take the train or metrolink. That would involve a taxi or bus from your hotel to the train station. Then you could take train north to Union Station. Change to the Metrolink going to Antelope Valley/Santa Clarita at Union Station. Then take a bus (taxis won't be near the train stop) from one of the stations in Santa Clarita (there are 3 and I'd base it on the bus schedule) to Magic Mountain. The train option would be a huge pain, so I'd probably skip it unless you had to do that.

Good luck,
Jennifer

Thanks for the tips! The more research I do the more I realize that renting a car is the best option. I did see a bus tour that picks us up at the hotel and takes us there for $109 each, so I wonder now for the bus tour and admission were looking at $300ish or rent a car and pay admission extra. Any thoughts on that one?? thanks again!!!

Normal admission price is $60. There is a $20 off per adult coupon on mousesavers that is good through the end of the year. So, you're looking at $40 per adult for admission (assuming no better discounts when you go). Parking is $15. I'm not sure about the car rental cost, but I typically pay around $30-$50 per day when I travel.

Have a good time waiting in lines. When it gets busy you may get a chance to ride a few things.

whats that supposed to mean?? and odly enough Im only going there to take my daughter to meet the looney toons characters haha if I get to go on some coasters Im cool with it and if not Ill get over it. Its all about my 5 year old haveing fun there, is it going to be very busy on a tues or wed??

Did not mean to upset you. The place has become so gang ridden and dirty I just assumed you were going for the coasters. We took the kids everytime we were in SoCal and it got to a point that waiting 2-3 hours to ride a main attraction was nothing.
It would be better to drive the two-three hours to Valencia unless you can catch a reasonably priced tour bus.

Hope you have fun,

Jack

Jack- you didnt upset me lol I reread what I wrote and it sounded kinda harsh :)oops Ive heard about it being a gang area....is it really that bad?? Also, do you think its super busy on tuesdays or wednesdays?
Thanks!!

Mid week it should not be too bad. I would get there when it opens and go from there. It really is a fun place and there is more security, just too many teens with bad mouth's and very inappropriate. I have a hard time not engaging them.

Depending on when you are going, mid-week is the best in terms of crowds. Just go on the Six Flags website and watch for promos that they are offering. Right now they are offering a year's pass (and it includes one-day admission tickets for four adults) for only $59! Lot of the promos involve bringing in an empty Coke can. I live in Valencia and it is true that the crowd the park attracts can be unruly, but they hired a lot of security and you rarely hear of problems (any problems were always during the weekend). LMK if you want to know anything else since I live there in Valencia.

We visited last year - we are from the East Coast. We stayed in Newport Beach. Almost every local we told, that we were going to Six Flags, they told us about the gangs and gave the place a bad rap. We had bought annual passess ahead of time for about 38/40 each. So we had to go to get our passes activated. I must admit I was a little scared about taking this trip.

The ride from Newport to Valencia was fairly easy - direct route. I found the scenery amazing. We do not have mountains and terrain, like they do in Cali. We chose to visit on a Monday.

While we went about this time last year - we found the park very clean. No unrulely guests. Seemed to be a lot of families. I have 2 teenage boys. We did every roller coaster -which they loved, without waiting. I enjoyed the park and was quite pleased with our visit. Now, since there were not many people there, there were times when I did wonder what was around the corner - because in some places we were the only people.

The only time we ran into what may be called unruley teenages, was waiting in line for one of the roller coasters, they were local kids - obviously they were skipping school - they were talking about how many times they skipped school and some would probably be expelled if caught. They drop several swear words - but again I have late teenagers and they were not shocked with this language.

My kids wanted to go back, but I did not want to do the 1 1/2 hour drive again. BTW it took us 2 hours to get back because of traffic. Used the commuter lanes - since we had a full car - this made the trip a little better.

Good luck.

wow thanks Valencia! and everyone else of course. SO if I buy a years pass I can get 4 adults 1 day admission?? holy crap thats a deal and a half!!

The gang problems at Magic Mountain are mostly from years ago. It got pretty bad. They've since cracked down hard, more security people around the park, tighter searches (a bit better than Disneylands) and the result is a much nicer safer park. It's not Disneyland though nor does it try to be.

Some of the newer bigger coasters do get long lines on the weekends or when school is out. The older or smaller coasters can have very short lines on even crowded days. Screaming coaster is a blast and had zero line last time we were there. Even Goliath had no line.

The kids rides usually have short lines. It's not like Fantasyland at Disneyland where crowds are the rule.

Another place to take your daughter (depending on age) would be Universal. It's north on 5 to 101, about 45 minutes from Disneyland.

Huff- good to hear the gang thing was before, we went to universal last year and its awesome!! The only real reason we are going to six flags is because my daughter is OBSESSES with tweety and the rest of them lol. Im doing a full day bus tour of hollywood so this is her treat lol. Outta curiousity...about how many diff characters walk around there??
