How to get the most out of Memory Maker?

What do people mean when they say that Memory Maker is worth while if you "take advantage" of it and "know how to use it" ??? Is there a thread with tips for how to make the most out of Memory Maker and how to get lots of shots?

I guess I don't really understand how to use it when you come across a photographer, go on a ride, have a character meal, meet a character at a M&G, etc.

Also, if we stay off-site and want Memory Maker, should we order Magic Bands because Memory Maker works better if you have Magic Bands?

Last question first, yes. If you are off site and purchase MM then you would be better off with bands. First, you can't get the 7DMT ride photo without bands. And 2nd, it's so much easier for the entire party to get photos done if everyone has a band linked together. Otherwise, if you go off apart at any time you each need a Photopass card to scan.

As for making the most of it, the only tip is stop at every photographer you see. It's only as good as your effort to get photos taken. If you have only a few done then you'll not be getting your monies worth. The cost is the same if you have 10 photos, or 1000. The more photos you get, the more it's "worth it" Even if you have a photo at that icon get another. Every one is different and some are better photographers than others.

Good information from PP. Also when you stop at the various Photopass photographers, you can also ask if "magic shots" and/or "animated magic shots" are available from that photographer. If you are not familiar with these, they will take your photo and pose you (and your group) in a certain manner. Then before they upload the photo to your account they will "photoshop" a Disney character into the picture.

Animated magic shots are essentially the same as magic shots, but the Disney characters are in motion (animated).

Basically, the previous post sums it up.

You get a lot of shots by making sure that you stop at the photopass photographers you see, by doing meet and greets with the characters to have your photo taken, ride the rides that offer a ride photo and or video and always ask for magic shots:

The photographers are very easy to recognize - you just walk up to them and say you want to do a photo. Like the previous poster said, take photos with every one of them, if you want! Some photographers are great and will have you do tons of fun poses; others will just take a photo.

Photographers without trippods can often do Magic Shots - you can ask them if they don't offer.

At character meals, there is only a photographer for the picture you get before the meal - they don't walk around with the characters that stop at your table.

Most characters have a PhotoPass Photographer. They take your photo whether or not you want them to and scan your Magic Band afterward (or give you a photo card).
