So I am giving in and booking one night at a Universal hotel June 17. Big deal for me, since my 2 bedroom condo is only $150 more for 7 nights than the cheapest rack rate for one night:headache:

Anyway, how do I get the cheapest rate? I don't have AAA, and I don't think I'd get a good enough discount for one night to cover the cost of membership.

I remember someone saying once that they have rooms with obstructed views that you can ask for at a better rate? Anyone know anything about that or other ways to get the rate less than $249/nt?

i would have to look at a calendar to see what day of the week is the 17th....

weekends cost more than weekdays.

if you buy the AAA membership card, it is valid for many more things.
discounts for the hotel room are a decent deal for everyone.

the cost of AAA varies depending on what part of the country you reside.
my cost is $40 a year.

As pp said, AAA is good for much more than just a hotel discount. As far as Universal, AAA also gives you a 10% discount at the restaurants, food carts, and stores in the parks as well as almost all the restaurant in City Walk.

AAA will save me $38 for one night. I booked at rack rate and decide whether its worth it. I believe AAA is $55 here. I had it for a few years, but a different auto plan came with my new car, so I dropped it. I think at most we'd break even, since we won't be spending $170 on food/merchandise on Universal property over 2 days. Thanks for the info though.

does anyone know if you get 10% off all the exact same places the annual pass gives you 10% off because if so I am just going to get a power pass instead of an AP(I miss the days when you could get 20% off with an AP:))

correct ! :thumbsup2

the AAA and the preferred annual pass allow a 10% discount off of food and merch in the parks.

even though i have both cards, i use the AAA for my discounts.

i believe it was 2006 for the last year of the aph 20% discount.
i miss those days.......
