So we will be visiting HS one of our days, but it closes early that day at 6:00pm due to the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 10 miler race.

I’ve booked an ADR for Captain’s Grille at the Yacht Club in the Boardwalk area at 6:45pm. We’re taking the friendship boat from HS to get there. I expect we won’t get done with dinner until at least 8:00 pm. By that time, HS will be fully closed and evacuated of guests. The race doesn’t start until 10pm. Any idea of how I get back to Port Orleans Riverside most efficiently using Disney Transportation?

Thank you in advance.

Hi

I would take a bus from YC to DTD and then the boat back to POR from there. If the boats are not running then you can get a bus from DTD back to POR.

If you have park hopper passes and Epcot is open you can walk through there and get a bus direct back to your resort from there. This would be faster than the bus/boat option.

If none of those work you can get a cab.

I would just spend the $20 on a cab. There will probably be one sitting in front of YC; just go to the bell services stand out front.

The Boardwalk area to DTD buses are a nightmare at any time of the day but absolutely the worst at night. YC will be the 3rd stop on the loop and the bus will already be packed by the time it gets there.

The walk through Epcot to the bus stops from YC will take you a good 30-40 minutes. At the end of a day, I'd rather just spend the cab fare.

Thanks for the replies.

Ack, was hoping for better Disney options. I've done the resort to park/DTD then to resort option a couple of times before, and to be frank, it sucks. Takes so long that it makes it not worth doing an ADR outside of the park.

We've had this same issue with Sanaa at AKL. By the time you leave the park early enough to make your ADR, eat, take bus from resort to park, then park to resort it can easily be a 3-4 hour experience. Love Sanaa and the views at AKL, but it's just worth the time involved.

I think I may have come up with an alternative option, and might switch a couple of days around to resolve this issue. I'll still be able to hit Captain's Grille, or some other restaurant in the Boardwalk area and get back to HS before it closes.

We always budget for cabs.
For example every trip we watch Illuminations near France and then walk up to BC and hop in a cab back to our resort (unless we are staying at BC, one of our favs!;))

I know it isn't in everyone's budget but we find the ease of travel and lack of waiting, especially at night, to be more than worth the money.

Cab will be $10 from there not $20. Took cabs a couple times last Dec from Boardwalk to CSR and it was $7 plus tip. Shouldn't be much more than that to go to POR. If you have Park Hoppers though I would walk through Epcot and catch the bus to POR there.

Thanks all. No park hoppers, we're one park per day people.

If the cab is the best option, then that's what we'll do. It's a bummer that there is no central bus depot in the Boardwalk area like there is for DTD. Would be nice to take a bus directly there from a resort, or vice-versa.
