How to get from AK to AKL then POP

I think I have decided to go to AKL and eat at Mara for dinner after our day at the AK. I know we can get on a bus at AK to AKL, but when we need to get back to POP, how do we go about doing that? Can anyone share the quickest, least painful (lol) way to get back? Thanks

We went from AK to AKL for dinner at Boma. Then we thought about hopping a bus to another park that wa sstill open but we opted for a taxi back to POP. It was quicker and was only like 13 bucks or so. Way easier than having to switch busses at a park.

Just take a bus to MGM (make sure it is open though) and transfer to a bus to Pop. If MGM isn't open, go to Epcot to transfer. It really wasn't too bad when we did it last week.

We will have 8 in our party. Would we have to request a special vehicle to carry us all if we went the taxi route? Also, how do you request one? At the front desk? Have never used a taxi in my life. Is the price the same if we had to get a bigger vehicle than a car? Thanks

We went to Boma for dinner and then hopped a bus to DTD. We then switched buses for Pop. I truly believe the best way is 2x_dis_dad's way . . . take a taxi! It is worth the $13!

If I wasn't so pooped, it would have been great to take a bus to DTD, shop a little and then take a bus to Pop. However, that was not the case! I wanted to get to bed! I was pooped!

I just remember one of the bus drivers suggesting us to do that. I have no idea why. Maybe the MGM buses were not running that late? But I sure will remember that from now on! Thanks for the suggestions!

You may also want to look at ourlaughingplace.com. They have a "Transportation Wiz" where you put in your locations and they tell you how to get there.

The great thing about the DTD transfer is that the buses run really late for DTD, so if you take your time at AKL, you won't have any worries. I love to shop a bit on the way back before hitting our resort bus!

I hope you meant you were going to go to AKL to eat at Boma and not Mara. Mara is the counter service at AKL, (and not worth a taxi ride to eat there) Boma on the other hand is a WONDERFUL buffet, and definitely worth a cab ride. Just thought I would clarify.

No,hezreck, I meant Mara. We are not very daring eaters. Only more normal things for us. I looked at the menu for Boma and I dont think anyone would eat there. Especially for the buffet price. My sis and her husband were missionaries to Africa for 3 years and they ate MANY unusual things while there, but we are not that brave. I just really want to see the resort especially decorated for Christmas, and figured that it would be a good time after AK. Thanks for all the posts, though about getting back to POP. Hopefully it will be uneventful and quick.

I was thinking the same thing. The Mara isn't worth an hour of WDW transpo or a cab, IMHO. It's just your average CS food court with a couple small yummies to tempt you if you are staying there already. In fact, we leave AKL to go to AK for CS at Tusker House when we're staying there.

Now Boma & Jiko are a whole 'nuther story!

Well, like I posted, we are going for the decorations and to tour the resort for a possible future stay and will be picking up a quick dinner while there. Mara will be fine and has something for everyone in our party.

We took a taxi from AKL to Pop after dinner last month. It was $11.50 + tip. The guy at the valet stand called the cab for us and it was there in about 2 minutes. If you have a large party you may want 2 cabs - not sure how long you would have to wait for a van that would carry all 8 of you. We thought about taking a bus to a park and another bus to Pop, but we decided it really wasn't worth the hassle.
