How to get Fast Passes ??

Please forgive the basic question, but I'm not sure how to get FP's with the new (to me) system.
My wife has an MDE account set up that we use for dinning, but I'm not sure if we can book FP's ahead of time without booking a Disney property first. Can we link our AP's to MDE ? We have old MB's but our AP's are plastic cards. The MB's are not linked to MDE either.

This technology shift really went sailing over my head. I don't like the change, but I guess I have no choice. If I want to see the new Soarin' I need to get with the program and get a fast pass.

Thanks for your help!

You have to link your APs to your MDE, then you can book your FPs via MDE up to 30 days in advance if staying off property.

You should link your MBs to MDE as well, if they're not already, then the APs will be accessible via the MB. (I don't really know much about APs, but you should have a MB for those as well. If not, you should be able to order it, and it will appear on your MDE.)

Okay, thanks again...
I'm not a big one for wearing a MB, but I guess I can put it in my pocket.. :D
I'm guessing a FP for Soarin' may be tough at 30 days. I guess it may be tough for most of the biggies.

How did you get MB and not have them linked to an MDE account?
No idea. My last on site stay was a couple years back. MB's were brand new. I don't even know if MDE was up and running yet. We checked in at the Poly and they handed us a band. I didn't use it. I just used the card key they also gave me.

MDE came before MB so I'm betting you do have a MDE account. And those bands are linked to it.
Have you signed in using both of your emails and checked?
Call their IT support line if needed.
Same goes for an AP. When you bought an AP it was linked to someone's MDE account.
You just need to find out what it is and sign in.
Once you do that, you'll find your AP and your MB and you can then book FP

I thought all that, too, but wasn't positive.

Oh, as an AP holder you can book 7 days worth of FP 30 days in advance.
If you book an onsite resort stay you can book FP for the length of the stay, 60 days in advance.

My wife created an MDE account about a year ago in order to do ADRs. We bought last years AP's at guest services and headed directly into Epcot. So, if they were linked, the CM did it behind the scenes. That was also prior to my wife creating her MDE account.

Just call Disney IT and let them find it all.
They'd get an email address when you bought the AP. That email address goes with an MDE account and that account is waiting on you to order your AP MB
They'd link the MB you had from your resort stay to some MDE account
IT should be able to hunt and locate the accounts and merge them if needed
But you can't link an AP already assigned to an MDE account at the time of purchase to another account. IT will have to square things for you

Okay... Think I got it.
My guess is things just got shuffled due to the timing.
- Had current AP
- Checked in at Poly (received MB)
- Account set up in the background waiting for me to link and activate (which we never did)
- Bought new AP's at guest services (perhaps linked to same unactivated account that set up earlier?)
- Wife created MDE under her email, so it never recognized unactivated one?

Does that sound reasonable?
Either way no big deal. As you say I'll call and get it squared away.
I'm just trying to understand this!! :D

you may have 2 MDE accounts I would call disney IT department and ask them to look into it for you, I may have also had 2 accounts and may have had to do the same thing.

At one point it was possible to have Magicbands and not MDE. When Magicbands first were being tested at the hotels you just got them when you showed up at Pop and a few other hotels. That was also back when you could only get FP+ day of at the park while it was still in testing and you had to have the MB to be apart of the test.

This is EXACTLY what happened I believe. The MB's were brand new and the Poly concierge said don't worry, just use TKTTW card.

Yep even now it is possible to have a MB and no MDE account. Very Very Very rare but you can go to the kiosk and touch a MB that is linked to absolutely nothing to get same day fastpasses. Many people are doing just that in order to get 3 additions FPs each day.

Right. But then you have an AP. That changes things. I'm betting that is tied to an MDE account somewhere

Which AP ? The one I already had when I received my MB's from the Poly or the more recent one? As I said, we never set up an MDE for the AP's, but I guess it's possible the CM did it without us knowing when she sold us the AP's. We never had to activate anything, as we went directly from guest services into Epcot.
