What's the best way to get connecting rooms? I am going with my family and my brother is going with his family. We'd like connecting rooms (we'd even pay more for them.)

I plan on putting both rooms under my reservation (so I can accumulate more disney dollars on my disney visa). But from what I understand, we STILL won't be guaranteed connecting rooms b/c they'll be adults in both rooms?

Am I correct? Is there any better way to guarantee connecting rooms?

I don't believe that connecting rooms can be guaranteed. But be sure to note your request on your reservations when you make them.

Connecting rooms are not guaranteed, but we haven't had a problem getting them when we requested them.

If you book online, you can request connecting rooms with another party. There is an option for it.

We had "guaranteed" connecting rooms this past June at All Star Music. We had
3 adults,
10 year old,
8 year old,
2 year old
and a 9 week old.
When I made the reservation, I was told it would not be a problem and he could "guarantee" it becuase the children out number the adults.

1) It was nice you got your choice.
2) However, WDW does not guarantee ANY room.
3) Whether you pay extra or not for the room, view, or type.
4) They try their best, and "usually" succeed.
5) But things do happen, and your choice may not be available.

Not true. If there are more minors than adults, the connecting rooms are in fact guaranteed.

If you have say 5 kids and 2 adults, that's over the occupancy limits and they wouldn't allow you to have the kids in a room alone without it being connected, therefore they guarantee it. I've read about it numerous times on the board.

I'm confused..We had planned on getting a suite at the Value because the size of our family but, When I called to book the exact words by the CM was that it would be guaranteed to get 2 connecting rooms because the children out number the adults. I didn't ask..I was told. He assured me that it was guaranteed over and over. I wouldn't have paid for 2 rooms if our family didn't have access to our children.. It's not like we're two families that just want to have access to each others room.. We're just one family with more than 2 children that need 2 rooms at Value which is cheaper than one room at Deluxe.

Also, I will be booking for our trip in April. I will need 2 "connecting" rooms because we will have 2 adults and 4 children at the Value. Assuming we get the "connecting" rooms again. Why would I have been told this if it's a "request?" Now I'm in panic mode for our next trip!

I think you were posting at the same time I was posting about the "guaranteed rooms!!" I'm happy to hear what you just said...What a relief. I was starting to think I was understanding wrong :confused3 when I made our last reservations.

I have also had "guaranteed" connecting rooms for us & our three sons. However, when I spoke to a CM at CRO this week (8/23) to make reservations for December, he said that the new policy is NO GUARANTEE of connecting rooms unless you have four or more minor children. So if you have three or less, it's no longer guaranteed.

I don''t think they would put children not in a connecting room. Not all cm's are that accurate. We've never not gotten our rooms when we request them either but we may have just been lucky.

Well, think about it. If the room occupancy is four, and you have two adults and six children, as undesirable as it may be, each room COULD be occupied by one adult and three children.

This has all been debated many times before. The CM may tell you and your reservation may show "guaranteed connecting" but it's not true.

This is us exactly. My oldest son will be age 18 and we were gauranteed connecting rooms. We have 3 adults and 4 children.

There are very limited circumstances under which Connecting Rooms would be stated as guaranteed.

One would be for a significantly disabled individual traveling with a caregiver staying in a separate room but who needs immediate access to their patient in the event of an emergency. These situations happen very rarely and would be handled by the special services team at Disney's reservations office.

The next circumstance would be when 1 or 2 adults travels with more children than can fit in a single room. For example, 1 adult and 4 children (aged 3 and older) at All Star Sports or 2 adults and 3 kids (aged 3 or older) at Caribbean Beach Resort. Add a 3rd adult to the mix and connecting rooms can no longer be guaranteed.

Pretty much, these are the only situations where connecting rooms would be listed as "guaranteed." Even then, sometimes "guaranteed" connecting rooms may not be available due to extraordinary circumstances.

Finally to the OP, Disney is now being very particular about booking multiple rooms on a single reservation. Unless you all reside at the same address and have fewer than 3 adults in the party, each room will be booked under its own reservation. You can have them linked (as a magical gathering if you have 8 or more people altogether) but they will not be booked as a single reservation.

If the CM told you that, then he misspoke. Children outnumbering adults DOES NOT guarantee connecting rooms unless there are 2 or fewer adults in the traveling party AND the party does not fit in a single room of the desired category. In your case it appears that you do have only 2 adults in the party AND your party does not fit in a single room at a value resort so your reservation would state "guaranteed" connecting rooms. Even so, RustyScupper is correct in stating that sometimes circumstances would prevent this, despite the resort making every effort to provide the connecting rooms.

Actually RustyScupper is more correct than you are in your initial statment. A family with 2 adults and 3 children booking at the Polynesian would not be guaranteed connecting rooms because they could fit in a single room but choose not to do so. A family with 2 adults and 4 children (assuming all the kids are 3 or older) would be guaranteed connecting rooms because they would exceed occupancy rules for a single room. A family with 3 adults and 3 children would not be guaranteed connecting rooms even though they exceed occupancy rules because there are more than 2 adults in the room.

Also, he is speaking from the point of view of someone who works at the front desk of a resort where they do have to deal with extraordinary reservation situations that might prevent them from fulfilling certain room requests or guarantees.

I have guaranteed connecting rooms is Sept. My family includes two adults and six children. It is guaranteed on my paperwork and it has been guaranteed by the word of a CM. I was told do to the size of my family and ages we would have it for sure! I can't wait. I will say if it was not guaranteed I would not be able to stay on site which would be sad. I would never want to have rooms split with the ages of my kids. No way!

1) The ressie is listed as guaranteed.
2) The ressie guarantee is usually honored.
3) However, there are several conditions that prevent this at check-in time.

NOTE: Although guarantees on ressies state one thing, there are many occurances when the requested item(s) cannot be granted. Examples: Room given to someone else, mechanical problems with the room, the room isn't cleaned and is left dirty overnight, etc. Again, this is NOT to say you won't get your desire asw WDW tries its best, but it is not guaranteed.
