How to Get Banned in One Easy Step

Last night, when I was running my quests, not one but TWO people made
mention of the DIS. One boy asked me if my Dis title is the same as my
VMK title.

Do not do this! This was WolfxofxNovember, and he was banned for a month,
probably triggering VMK to ban him for asking about outside contact.

There was another boy who came in earlier, asking if I was on the DIS.
You see me here, you will know me in VMK. Please don't mention that
you see anyone here, or you may get banned, too. VMK has gotten
very strict about this, for good reason.

So please, if you do get banned for mentioning the DIS, it might be one
month. If you mention the DIS again, you might get a permanent ban.

Just be careful out there.

It banned my brother too bc he using the same IP!! This is so unfair when you said it was against values I said "Oh sorry i forgot" In case they dont know I was absent for months making it easy for me to forget.

carefulleugene, you should NOT talk about real life things in VMK at all. It is not a good idea to mention activities that you and your friend do. Save your real world talk for real world. I have known cases where family members were banned for referring to their family situation in VMK. Better to be safe than sorry, in this regard.

The policy is not designed out of meaness but for the protection of VMK guests. It is so easy to cross the line of "safe VMK" talk to potentially dangerous giving out of information.

As a rule of thumb, you should not refer to the DIS or other forums, or what you did in school, etc.

Yes, I have Dis referenced in my signature. I put it there specifically to
avoid the unfortunate "Do you post to the Dis?" questions.

My signature (as it's in this signature pic below) has "I see Dis people".
When questioned, I always say it means "Disney". But this is my clue
that I mean here, the DIS boards.

Don't put "I post to the Dis". If you want to put "Dis" as a single word
in your signature, I don't think anyone would get banned for it.

What did I change my signature to? It says now:

"I see Dis people. Don't hornswoggle me! Woot for loot - Boo yeah!"

As you can see, I kept the first part and the "boo yeah". I just enjoy saying
"boo yeah".

Lori is right on the mark with this. VMK staff DO read all the fan sites. Please, no reference to any of them on vmk!! If it's NOT a Disney owned site, do not talk about it on vmk. They are getting very strict about personal info being given out.

In all honesty, I'm surprised they haven't taken the word Dis out of the dictionary yet....it just seems like something they would do!

But yeah, if someone asks I never tell them it's a website or anything like that...I either say it's short for Disney or I say nothing at all.

I haven't had any reference to the DIS boards in my signature since last year, and I *still* get people asking or telling me that they saw me on the "Dis boards". I immediately say "Please don't talk about that here, it's against VMK values. I do not want to see anyone get banned because of that". I say that even if I see other people in the room talking about it, even though the comment isn't directed to me.

Another thing - don't tell someone to check their DIS messages. Just say I sent you a note or something like that - Do not mention the DIS part. I am worried about someone who did that.

I just say check 'the place.' XD

I'm bumping this thread because last night, in the Pirates Lobby, a well-meaning DIS girl announced, "I saw you on the Dis boards".

Please, please please read this thread again! That sentence alone may have
gotten her banned, but I have no idea. I do know from my first post that
someone DID get banned for saying something similar.

Don't mention the DIS boards on VMK, or the other message boards,
IM programs, or other ways of establishing outside contact.

Basically...

Don't mention outside contact. Period.

I never got a warning or ban either. But I was a newbie and I asked ppl where they live. I got a warning, but never a ban.
