The type of transfers I bought require the image to be flipped so it prints correctly. How do I do this? I have XP and an HP printer and don't see anything in the print options. Am I out of luck? Nevermind, I'm just going to buy the dark transfer ones!!

I don't think it matters what kind of transfer you buy. It's about the design. It has to be flipped or it will be backwards on the shirt. I think the only images that don't need to be flipped are ones that have no words, or ones that are designed as a mirror image already. I went into my file tab, went into print, and when the print box came up, I clicked on preferences. In the preferences box there were options for me. Mine said "Mirror image", so I chose that, then I went into the paper type and chose t-shirt transfer. It worked perfectly. I don't know if you have the same options, but you might have to dig to find out what to do. I googled it, and found out how to do it using Word 2003.

Please read all instructions with your transfers very carefully. It definitely has to do with the transfer paper and not the design.

Most dark transfers do not need the design flipped. This is because a dark transfer is placed 'face up' on the tshirt.

Most light transfers require that you flip the design before printing. This is because the transfer is placed 'face down' on the tshirt.

For the OP - in order to flip the design, it really depends on what software you are using. Like in Paint (which I believe comes on all computers), it is under image>flip/rotate. Sometimes, you can also find it in the print menus. I know that most printers have a transfer option for paper (like the previous poster said) and this will normally flip the image automatically.

If you decide to try this, I would reccommend printing it to a regular sheet of paper first to test it out - so you do not ruin a transfer sheet.

I hope this helps!

I looked everywhere and even googled it and there is no option there to mirror with my printer or in Word Professional 2010. So I ran up and bought dark transfers, which do not need to be flipped as per the instructions ;)

Glad it worked out for you! I just did my first ever t-shirt transfers last week, so I am by no means an expert! I managed to find some guy who put tips on a site on how to do it, and then it was very easy! I have never used dark transfers, as, like I said, I just did my first shirt last week! I would never have even thought about it having to be flipped in the first place, but I stumbled on something about it right before I printed mine. I would have been clueless about the dark transfer. And here I thought I was becoming a technological genius! Hahahaha! (that was an evil laugh by the way)
