We have been looking for the best airfair but everything is so expensive. I wanted to see what other people may be using to find the best deals. We have 2 adults and 3 kids, could you share your secrets with us. Thank you.

I really like flying Southwest. I find that I can always find the best deals from them. I fly from Chicago to Orlando.
If your dates are flexible, check the rate calendar. Sometimes flying out on a Wednesday instead of a Thursday is cheaper.
Sign up for email updates. Over St. Patrick's Day weekend, I received a 25% off coupon and it saved me $50 round trip. Multiply that times 5 people!
I like Southwest too because you get two free bags, that is a money-saver too! :goodvibes

I use Priceline.com and it also helps that I can be flexible with the dates. I got two round trip flights from Maine to Orlando for a total of 502.00 which is one of the cheapest flights I've ever booked. :cheer2:

Keep checking and watching. You can use a price comparison website like kayak.com for most airlines, then check Jetblue and Southwest manually. With that in mind, don't wait long to book - prices don't seem like they're going to come down any time in the near future, but just keep going up.

Also, in this day and age, don't be afraid to book the segments separately - going on one airline, coming home on another. I just saved a Dear Friend a couple of hundred by booking her on United going to a destination and Southwest going home.

I've been stalking flights for a few months, and I've been floored by how much everything is increasing! Being flexible does help- I had been searching and searching for something affordable for a Saturday to Satrurday trip, and when I realized I could change my Disney package by one day, I saved over $400 on airfare just by flying Sunday to Sunday instead of St to Sat. Try to play around with different departure days on a site like Expedia or Travelocity, and you can get an idea of how much you can save on different days.

A few people here on the Dis directed me to yapta.com- the site will watch flights for you and notify you when flights hit a certain dollar amount. It will also track flights you've already booked, so that if a price drops, you can get a credit from the airline.

Good luck!!

I watch farecast.com, it gives several prices and also tracks previous prices, telling you when to buy and when to wait.

are you looking for flights for 6 weeks from now?

I find that the last 6 weeks are the highest you will pay. that and your choice of seats are limited.

Try looking at one way flights- I found a deal that is 300 cheaper then buying round trip tickets.

There is a great app that I was able to get for my IPhone called ITA On The Fly. I am able to check flights quickly and often. I think I've found the best flights and times when I have watched one way tickets. That being said, this site doesn't show all airlines. I just got great prices on Allegiant (one of the airlines not available) at the ITA site. It is however an easy way to check fares quickly and often and have a good feel for what might be a good price.
