How to find out that bags were lost by airline when using ME

after a phone call to WDW i received the following recommendation:

The easiest solution will be to wait by the carousel so see if my luggage shows arrived as it should, if it does, leave it on the carousel, and proceed to ME to check-in + let them handle the the bags

If it doesn't, I will know right away and can do claiming right at MCO...

PS: We are transferring in PHL, so no customs for us at MCO

I think that is the worst possible solution.

If you're going to walk all the way to the carousel anyway, why not just take your bags with you.

I agree, I would just pick them up if you are going to take the time to check.

This isn't true; it is likely that you will have no problem with your bags.
If you are worrying so much about this, why not pack lighter and carry-on only?
Well, I used to work in the aviation industry and I can say it happens, and the probability rises with connecting flights + short layover times(both which I have).
Carry-ON only is not a option for us, as we are staying for 2 weeks + planning to do some heavy shopping at the malls+outlets (US prices are imcomparibly better than in Europe)

I think that is the worst possible solution.

I thought I would pass the luggage carousel more or less anyway. If it is really a detour, than you are probably right
Thanks for the tip

Baggage is pretty far out of the way. I would just pack everything you need for the first 24 hours in your carry on and not worry about it.

Not really. I know that if I'm landing on Side B of MCO, I walk right by baggage claim when I head to DME checkin. But, I usually take the escalor down, and then the elevators that are right in front of baggage claim.

If it were me....I would assume that my bags made it to MCO if I had them in Philly. Lost/delayed bags just don't happen as often as people make out. When you get to the DME checkin area, they will ask you how many bags you checked..then they will be on the lookout for them. You will show them the baggage claim receipts, so they will be able to track them with those as well.
If you had been making multiple stops outside of the country, with MCO being your first stop once in the US, then sure, I might be a bit concerned about the bags having made it to MCO. But, with a stop in Philly first, you should be fine.

Well, my assumptions were correct :-)
One bag got delayed in PHL, We had it there, but it didn't arrive to MCO. Arrived on the next flight though.
But, as suggested, we took the rest with to the BUS,
Thanks for helping
