We purchased a brick with our names on it years ago. We have been back but never had a chance to look for it. It's located on the walkway between the GF and MK. How does one find their brick? I'd love to see it after all these years! I also heard a while back that some bricks are removed, is this true and if so, do they notify you? :D

 WELCOME TO THE DIS BOARDS!

This is going to be a somewhat vague answer, but I hope it helps a little. Your brick should have a number on it. Write it down if you know what it is and check with a CM around the area to help you find it. We looked at our brick a few years back (it is by the Poly) and there was actually a CM standing by a podium to help guests locate their bricks. I am not sure if these special CMs are still around for that purpose.

Gumdrop, thanks for the warm welcome and the quick response. Yes, I believe on my certificate there is a number, I will write it down and bring it with us. Hopefully there will be someone around to point us in the right direction. Thanks again :Pinkbounc

I thought I remembered the paperwork I signed guaranteeing the brick for 10 years. After that, if they break or are removed for whatever reason there is no replacement. (Can you say resale value of this area;) )

We are looking for our in August, our first trip it hadn't been installed yet, they brought it out to us in front of the Magic Kingdom to see and take pictures of. Our last 3 trips we haven't seen it as it ended up in a not so convient place. (Walkway from TT to Poly).

We purchased ours back n '94. I don't recall the 10 year clause. In fact, I don't recall a specific contract. To my recollection, we were sent a form in the mail asking us what we wanted on the brick, {at that time, you did not have a choice of icons, just Mickeys silohette} and we printed what we wanted on it and sent a check for, I beleive, $89 or so with a MKC card discount, and we received a certificate,{suitable for framing of course} with a duplicate picture of what our brick would look like, and a number and description as to where it could be found. Ours has been replaced once already, a few years ago, as it was chipped. This was done at our request when we spotted the chip. I'm sure the rules regulating these bricks have been changed over the years, and I guess they added that 10 year clause.

At MK, the stroller shop has access to the Walk Around the World database. To help locate your tile, they will need the first and last name of the person who purchased the tile, and the city they lived in at the time of the purchase.

We purchased ours in August of 96, this will be the 7 year mark, I hope we get to see it! Thank you all for your replies:D

Here's a link with some original info for the 10 year clause

http://www.disneyclubs.com/memberships/disney_bricks.htm

The Bricks sold at Disney World for the Walk Around The World are reasonably priced at $100.00 plus tax and the term lasts for 10 years before you either pay again or the Brick is sold to a new purchaser. The Special 25th Anniversary Granite Bricks can be purchased for $225. These are_ located at the Ticket & Transportation Center.

To answer the original question, Here are a couple of tips to assist in the location of your brick. You may go to Guest Relations just outside MK (I did) and give them the family name and any info your remember. They looked up my friend's brick gave me the coordinates and then handed me a map with her area highlighted.

There were CMs around to assist as theirs was on the path from the monorail to the park entrance. Since 9-11 CMs have positions that carry more serious responsibilities so they aren't as available to assist.

While a CM at the GR window can go to the stroller shop and ask a stroller CM to look up the brick, it's faster and more direct to check with the stroller shop if you're inside MK.

You can use the my family's method. We bought the brick in 2000. It was placed in front of the TTC and we had never seen it until this past April 03 when we made a special trip to the TTC to find it.

We forgot to bring our number. So the 4 of us spread out and started looking at bricks with Mickey's head on them until we found ours.

It took us about 10 minutes and then Mom spotted it!

Here it is:

 Did anyone else purchase a brick back when they first came out in '94? As I stated in an earlier post, I do not recall any kind of a "contract" stating a 10 year term for the bricks when we originally made our purchase. And if you did purchase one then, did you receive a 10 year contract? :smooth:

I purchased one in '94 and there was NO such ten-year or seven-year contract. The only thing that was stated was the fact that if it cracked, Disney would not replace it. I cannot believe that my brick will be up for a resale next year. Is this true?? And will I get some sort of notification that the "lease" is up??

I am NOT  very happy about this resale thing, and will be writing to Disney if I find it to be true:confused:

Unhappy brick owner, Wilma:(

I bought mine in late 94 or early 95. You filled out the form (in big print) and than there were about 50 lines (approx.) of tiny type. It stated they are only "guaranteed" for 10 years. If anything happens to them in that time they will be replaced. After that, there is no replacement for damage and a possibilitiy of need for a new walkway all together due to wear and tear.

My impression from the CM I questioned was they have no intention of riping them out but as it decays they will replace with regular bricks or if whole sections need replacing possibly resaling the area.

Just my thoughts,
Sandy

in front of MK on the left side at the entrance. In 94 it had a ten year term.

I got mine in 1995 and I recall the 10 year clause in the paperwork...Sure enough a few years later it was GONE! I have video and photos of it so I know exactly where it was. It was located right in front of the Magic Kingdom Entrance! I think they should notify you if your brick is being removed. It was a PRIME location and I would have paid to have it replaced. :(

 Does anyone know if the brick will show up as being removed in the database?

Epcotfan -

I would check with them, maybe it got moved for some strange reason. It guaranteed a minimum of 10 years which you paid for and have not yet received.

 Were you given a copy of this form with the big print.?I've searched high and low in all of my Disney files of purchases and cannot come up with the form. All we have is the certificate with the description of what is on the brick and a number for location purposes. Signed by Roy Disney. Photocopy, of course.
