Hello
All. We just built a pool home in Emerald Island Resort. Beautiful!!! Now the work of filling it. What do all of you vacationers need to make my home your home for the time you are there? Let me know. I thought of the pool toys. A whole peice of luggage full. Let me know what you would look for in a home. What would make you not want to leave. All would be content. Think hard all my guests will be depending on your insight.
Thanks All
IslaB

Nice towels, especially ones for the pool. A crockpot and also a blender for slow cooked meals and frozen drinks.

A hot tub if you don't already have one built in, not a jacuzzi bathroom tub, although that's nice in addition to the hot tub. Nice decorator furniture, not the really cheap stuff; a wooden swing set/ jungle jim or some plastic playhouse for the kids; lots of seating in the kitchen

A comprehensive folder of carry out menus with coupons if available. A printout of area church services and times.

And wait, let me guess...you want all of this for $199/week.

With new people coming in every week or few weeks, I think the OP was thinking of small touches not champagne dreams on a beer budget wish list. Lets face it, you may take care of things like decorator furniture but who knows how other guests will behave. Sturdy furniture that stands up to abuse would be a better bet. I actually like Four Seasons Furniture because they are all custom slipcovered which makes for easy redecorating and/or replacement of cushion covers if you have messy guests who don't take care of your belongings. Further, I would think that there would be insurance liability issues with adding a swing set or jungle gym and with our litigation happy society, I wouldn't ask the OP to put herself at such a risk. Kitchen/dining room seating that matches the bedding (i.e. if you sleep 8, make sure the dining room seats 8) is a great suggestion.

Now this response is more realistic and a really good idea...

OP, your original thought of pool toys is fabulous - I know when my friends from the UK rent a pool home they love when the owners have those pool noodles for guest use. Some other suggestions, a comprehensive list of the local services such trash collection and recycling so guests know when to put out the garbage...phone numbers for police, emergency services, local hospitals and poison control...babyproofing items such as outlet covers and cabinet latches for guests with toddlers...a guestbook so you can get to know your visitors (hopefully you'll have some regulars who visit you every year)

I am trying to put together a draw just for advertisements and maps and so on. I want people to have what they have in there own homes. A draw that when they don't want to cook they can make a quick call and supper is served.
Also in my home I have put some disney travel cd's so if you want to check something out you can see it visually and decide if its right for you. I know what it takes to plan a good vaca. I want everyone else to have the tools if they need them. I have disney and tour travel books in the house if they want a quick review or Phone#.
I want all to rent our home to say these people must really know how to have fun. I want you to go home after a stay at are home and think I did not miss anything but our pets. Sorry we have a no pets policy. Also no smoking.

I just returned from a vacation in a privately owned condo. I usually rent from agencies so this was a change for me. I discovered more of a homey touch in this condo. There were paperback novels to read, CD's and DVD's to play. Other items not provided by agency houses were: candles, paper napkins, paper plates & paper towels, dishwasher and laundry detergent, garbage bags, coffee filters, salt & pepper shakers, bath soaps (bar and liquid), air fresheners in the bathrooms, toilet paper, basketball, board games and a guestbook. There was nothing we had to buy except for food.
