I don't know if I have this post in the right spot, but I'm going to Disneyworld in May and I have the Cinderella breakfast and the Epcot princess breakfast scheduled. Should I bring my daughter's Cinderella costume? Do a lot of the kids wear their costumes? I hate to pack that thing if I won't need it. I was thinking of buying just a cute comfy dress with the princesses on it? If someone had experience with this I'd appreciate you sharing. :) Thanks!

I have seen a lot of kids dressed up, yes. Then parents would have a change of clothes for later. But, I have also seen, and been, in just normal clothes. Its up to you.. but you won't be alone! LOL

Have fun!

Hi!

We did the princess breakfast in Epcot and lots of the little girls had on their princess dresses. It was really cute. There were also girls dressed in regular clothes. I just coordinated my dd's t-shirt with the color of her dress, and she wore the dress over her clothes in case she wanted to take it off. She ended up wearing it all day. The princesses make a big deal out of those pretty dresses!!!

We did both Princess meals, Pooh, Mickey, and Tinkerbell (for MNSSHP). I put all of DD1's costumes in a space saver bag in the luggage. They all fit in one bag, and were not that wrinkled when I took them out. The only thing that took up space and was a bit of a pain were the crowns, shoes, and wands. I fit about 5 different crowns into the round plastic box the disney costume wigs come in. This protected them, and I had them in my carry on. Next trip, I will leave all the accessories at home, and bring one pair of sandals and one pair of sneakers that match all the outfits.
Some kids were dressed up, some weren't, but they were all happy to be at the meals. If you can find one of two inexpensive princess outfits, I would say do it. Your DD will feel like a princess, and the characters will fuss over her. If not, she will still feel special and have a great time.

We did CRT and the Princess StoryBook breakfast in Norway (EPCOT) on our last trip. I would say half the girls had princesss costumes on, and half didn't. It's really up to you. The many princesses will really spend an equal amount of time at each table, and will make each girls feel special regardless of what she wears. My daughter actually had on her princess shorts, t-shirt, with matching sneakers. She felt very comfortable in this, and we didn't have to carry the costume around. Cinderella, Aurora, and the other princesses spent a lot of time with her, because she is very friendly and was not afraid to talk to them. What suprises me quite often is that I frequently see parents arguing with their children because they won't put on their princess crown for pictures, or the child spills something on her dress, and the child is having fits because of this. Though, my (un)favorite scene is, when I see parents force their child to walk in the "princess shoes" in the park, when the child is screaming that their feet hurt. I guess these parents forget that the vacation is really for their kids (though parents get to enjoy the benefits too!). This always get a nice cold stare from me to say the least. Sorry to get a little off-topic.....Just whatever you do, please make sure your little princess is comfortable in what she wears, and know that she will definitely enjoy and feel special at each character meal regardless.

We've done CRT twice and DD did not wear her costume. I just don't think she would be happy in it- and that would ruin the whole experience for us. Anyway, a few girls were dressed up when we were there but most were not. DD did wear a princess t-shirt so she was happy!
If you choose to let her wear the costume, you might want to consider letting her change and putting the costume in a rental locker for the rest of the day.
Either way, DD will not be alone in how she dresses. The princesses will make a fuss over her whatever she has on.
Just do what is comfortable for you and your DD. If you want her to dress up and she does too, then go for it! I just haven't gotton that brave yet!princess:

Thanks everyone! I think I'll bring the costume with a change of clothes and leave the princess shoes at home! LOL!! I'll have to post and let ya all know how it goes. :)

When we went to the castle, my daughter and cousin both wore a t-shirt that had most of the princesses on it. This worked great because the girls were comfortable and ALL the princesses made a big deal. Each one would stop by and look for their picture. I remember Sleeping Beauty having a discussion with them about her two dresses (blue & pink).

My DDs dressed up in princess dresses this past trip when we went to the Princess Storybook Breakfast...I bought them dresses off of eBay that I liked a lot better then the offical Disney ones because they were light weight and easy to carry if they wanted to take them off and they were nice and soft. Here is the URL for the store I bought their dresses at on eBay:http://stores.ebay.com/id=863605&ssPageName=L2

BTW...both DDs wanted to wear their dresses to the breakfast...one took it off after and one did not.

Oh those Disney princess shoes. I can't stand them. We found a way around them. We bought the glitter mary janes from Target and they doubled as "glass slippers." It was wonderful . Tehy are comfortable and look just as good as the Disney shoes. Prince Charming even commented that she had real glass slippers with a strap. He then told her that he makes Cinderella wear shoes with straps now and she showed tham to us. They were very similar. After the breakfast, she changed when she wanted too. We had a stroller so it was no big deal to store it.

Last September, DD's 18 months and 3 years, wore their costumes to CRT. We wore our leather sandals and changed into our shorts and t-shirts in the restroom. The girls received a lot of attention, but so did the children in their own clothes. It is a personal choice. I did pack the costumes in a space bag and ironed them the morning of our breakfast. You guys have great time!
