How to convince hubby WDW is awesome?!

Get the free DVD Disney has out, and watch the resort section and have him pick. We were Poly fans and CR but fell for the WL the last 5 trips. No goading in our home, just wife and I now, we're
always ready to head to WDW. Our 39th trip this September and we do more leisurely cruising and resort hanging then parks. We have AP's so we don't have to spend all day and night in the parks to feel we got our money's woth. I wouldn't have a plan or schedule to make him adhere to, really a turn off being told where to go, what to do and where to be when on vacation. we like nothing better then to sit by the pool, have a sandwich and snacks and some drinks. We let Disney come to us, we don't race around chasing it.

There is so much to see and do besides the parks, we like the putt putt, walking the Boardwalk and a few drinks in ESPN Club, Beaches and Cream at the Y&B for a burger. Cigar at Sousa's in DTD, lunch at Cpt. Jacks, or we pick all the resorts that have some entertainment in their lounges and good finger food. EWP from the WL beach, fireworks, it goes on and one. A plus would be a good themed resort ,we rules out the values and mods years ago, just not our cup of tea and go for the deluxe, just over the top themeing and we prefer the building all under one roof.

Keep us posted on your outcome.

Ill trun him into a disney man yet!
Well, let's take it one step at a time. Your job is to convince him to go just once. Maybe try a 4-day trip, something not as daunting or expensive. He might be more apt to dip his toe in the pool than to leap in from the high dive.

Four days might sound too short for you, but this is part of the compromise. He is giving something (his consent to go), so you give something (not staying for as long as you want).

The most important thing for you to wrap your head around is the strong possibility that you may NEVER turn him into a Disney man. I'm confident you will get him to go once. But PLEASE, if he doesn't like it, then let him off the hook. Not everyone is as into Disney as we all are. It's not like we're right and they're wrong. It's not like we just need to show them the light and they'll be converted. I'm just trying to gently help you see that even if you get him to go once, PLEASE don't further pressure him into loving it like you do.

  • Branson, Missouri
  • A coin collectors' convention
  • Bird watching in a meadow
  • Hunting
  • A Civil War re-enactment weekend
These are all places/activities that I truly believe I could never ever enjoy, no matter how much I loved and cherished the woman who might want me to experience these. I'm sure I'd try them based on my feelings for her and our relationship, and I truly would go in with an open mind, because you just never know for sure until you try it. But I strongly believe I'd never do them a second time, and I'd get incredibly annoyed if she tried to get me to like it even after I gave it my God's honest try and it just wasn't for me.
GOOD LUCK!

I have probably the most feared problem among DisneyWorld fanatics.....im married, and my husband (who has never been to WDW) says HE WILL NEVER EVER GO TO DISNEYWORLD!

:scared:  :guilty: Some people dont understand, but for fellow disneyworld lovers, this makes me think "oh how I wish I were married to someone who loved disneyworld!!!! everything would be perfect!" Its like cause for divorce....well. almost.

How do you convince someone that disneyworld is so great? He thinks its just an "amusment park" . I know he would have so much fun if he just went, but nothing I say seems to make him willing to try it....so what is your advice? I would be so appreciative! I just want to be able to share the fun and lovig memories of WDW with my husband! I know it would be fantastic!

How about some good old fashion compromise. My Dh loves Las Vegas. I could care less about the place, probably because we live so close to Atlantic city. So we compromise, I go to Vegas with him, he comes to Disneyworld with me. I try hard to never say never.

Thanks guys, especially cleverocks, who reminded me we are a different breed of people. Haha! But I have a PROGRESS UPDATE! We went to a chinease buffet last night (yum! But some of the crappiest sushi Ive ever laid eyess on. Ohhh...) So I couldnt help but be reminded of Epcot with the elaborate themeing, and while He and I are chowing down on some egg rolls and crawfish (we live in the south!) I casually bring up disneyworld. I get the classic suspicous hubby look as I always do (what is she scheming about this time!?) but I made a serious breakthough after mentioning some of the great memories I had. He sighed, and said this....:

"Look Dan, I know you love disneyworld, and I even admit that if I went I would probably have fun too..." He is then quick to say "BUT I hate the heat, and crowds, and standing in line!" (hello! Off season here we come!), "Its really an issue of money. Im not going to spend a fortune to go to disneyworld!"

YEAH! Weve made some progress! I guess I just have to show him how cheap it can be. That is STAGE TWO. STAGE ONE IS COMPLETE! Im sure Ill still hear him say he wont go, but that expected, we had a moment of clarity here. He let the truth slip out....Thanks guys! You really gave me a lot of inspiration! Now I have a new quest!

Will everyone tell me their best money saving tricks when going to WDW?

Congrats on the progress.

I'd stay away from that Chinese sushi. I hear the Japanese wonton soup is pretty lousy, too. You also might want to avoid the grits and crawfish in Boston and the Philly cheesesteaks and kosher hot dogs in Mississippi.

Money-saving tips ....

How do you guys like to eat on vacation? Do you like just grabbing some food or do you like to sit down to nice waitress-service meals with a big yummy fancy menu?

If you just like to get food at the counter and not wait for waitress service, then you'll save TONS of money by just doing counter-service meals during your stay. Except for maybe one character meal, my family does that exclusively at WDW -- we're just not "fancy" eaters on vacation with our kids. But just because it's counter-service, don't let people convince you it's just burgers and chicken fingers, because it's not! My wife and I were in training for a half-marathon during our last trip, and we ate very well and very happily at counter-service places without assaulting our bodies with fat-laden meats and fried foods.

If you prefer nicer meals, then buy the Disney Dining Plan, currently just a hair under $40.00 per adult per night (if you buy it, you must buy a day's worth of it for every night that you are staying at your resort, even if you arrive at midnight). You get credits equivalent to one table-service meal per day, one counter-service meal per day and one snack per day. If you are going to do a table-service meal each day, then the DDP is an incredible no-brainer money saver. But if you prefer counter-service like the above paragraph, then forget it!

Are you NOT big breakfast eaters? Combined with that, would you benefit from some extra time in the room in the morning rather than heading out to breakfast? If this is you, then get a grocery delivery with easy in-room breakfast items. We usually get stuff like instant oatmeal packets (heat the water in your room's coffee maker!!!), yogurt, bagels, cream cheese, fresh fruit that doesn't need to be sliced with a knife, deli-sliced American cheese, cold cereal, milk, OJ ... oh okay, and maybe some Oreos and soda and chips, too.:sad2: This will save you a ton of money compared with buying breakfast each morning.

You already know that going "off season" is cheaper. Try a Value resort, or try getting more bang for your buck by renting DVC points (a way of getting a nicer resot for maybe a little less than what you'd pay for a Moderate resort).

Save $90 by not buying the park hopper option for your two tickets. Hopping is nice, but not necessary, so it's an easy way to slice $90 + tax off the ol' budget.

Use Disney's Magical Express to get to and from the airport. It's free! Rental cars and car services cost well over $100 when all is said and done. DME is free, convenient, easy, and will get you to our resort in about the same amount of time as the other methods.

Get a dog. Purposely lose it a few weeks before your trip. You'll feel like you are saving money by no longer buying dog food. [Just included this one to make sure you're paying attention:rotfl: ]

I'm sure you'll get many other good ideas.
