How to Contain OR Not Lose Excitement for a far off trip...?

Hi everyone!

I have followed the YouTube channel for a few years, lurked a small handful of times and decided to join so I could find an answer to something I've been wondering. Apologies for brevity not being my strong suit.

I booked a bounce back free dining in August 2019 for this December (2020). I've gone on solo trips the last few years but this one is the longest I've had to wait since I started doing them. To say I'm excited is a grave understatement. The problem is, it's March. December is a LONG way away. By the time I leave we will have had so many holidays it feels like we JUST had, an election (never mind that 9 months is enough time for someone to have a kid)...it seems like there's such a long way to go to get there. And it's not even close to the point of 6 months out and doing dining reservations and whatnot. I have my airfare, I'm checked in online to hotel, I've basically done everything I can but wait the proper amount of time hahaha XD.

I guess my question is, for the superfans out there, how do you...occupy your time...when you have to wait a while for a trip? There's part of me that feels like I need to calm down (because I feel like I'm ready to leave tomorrow and that mindset will be CRAZY to keep up for 9 months), but then there's part of me that doesn't know if I ever could tone it down enough to be not quite indifferent but calm, if that makes sense. SO. What do you do to pass the time in between the "there's nothing to plan" phase and the "lets start making a plan" phase - especially if you're crazy like me and have Disney on the brain constantly?

My trip is in August and that feels like forever, so I get how you feel about December. I get on here every day just to read the updates. Make little notes on my trip schedule if I find out something new that I want to remember while I am down there. In a couple of months I'm going to try some DIY mickey shirts. But ugh... the wait... I feel your pain!

I keep notes on everything I see that interests me. I have a notebook with tons of scribbles. We are not going until June of 2021, so I have a long way to go. I have a planner and start making lists of restaurants and shows that sound cool. Then I slowly whittle it all down. I love finding tips and tricks. Always looking at food options. And this time, my daughters and I are doing Disney Bounding - matching outfits to Disney characters. So we have some shopping to do. I would love to do matching t-shirts - at least for us girls! So I'm on pinterest all the time looking for ideas. And I do scrapbooking, so I'm always looking at layouts getting picture ideas. Right now, my "to do" list is: food/ restaurants - shows - photo ops - tshirt ideas - disney bounding ideas - must do character meet and greets - must do rides - and more to come as I see different ideas online. I also try to do some kind of scavenger hunt each trip. We've done the Epcot passport stamps, pressed pennies, autographs, pin trading and a few more. So trying to figure out new ones is on my list of things to work on too. Baby steps...it doesn't need to be every day, but a little bit does help. I LOVE looking at the Picture a Day thread too! Gets me excited for what's to come and ideas for photo ops!
