How to communicate DDP and OOP to servers?

I would like to know if there is a "proper way" when ordering OOP items/meals at either CS or TS? :confused3

So for instance, when ordering @ CS does one state:
"I have the DDP and would like to use 2 CS for _________ & __________ plus pay OOP for ___________".
Then it all appears like that on your receipt? (credits deducted and cost for OOP items)

AND a TS order would be similar even if sharing:
"We are on DDP and would like to share as 1 TS _____ appie, ____entree, ______ dessert, _______ drink, plus pay OOP for following items ________ & ______".
Again, no need to order DDP & OOP food to be billed seperately?

I would not want to keep people on line waiting, overtax our servers, or cause confusion over DDP credits and charges.
SO is there a "best success" approach to this?
thanks ~ Tina

How about, "We're using Dining Plan credits for these meals, and paying cash (or charging) this, or these"?

What I would do at a CS, for instance is let the CM know that Im on the DDP, then ask for a dbl ch burger meal with a large drink, and an extra bun (which will cost extra) I will then order a second meal with a large drink, maybe chicken strips with fries, or an entree salad. In addition to that, I would let the CM know that I'd like some cheese sauce for our fries (at whatever the cost is), and I will tell them that Id also like to pay OOP for an order of coleslaw, and a kids meal of PB & J with carrots, grapes, and chocolate milk.((for example)) I'll give a KTTW card to swipe for the DDP, than either cash or a debit card for the rest

If it takes a minute to make my order clear, that's fine by me. After all, I did wait my turn:confused3

For TS, I will let them know that we are using 2, or 3 DDP credits, and paying OOP for a glass of milk, cocktails a kids meal, an extra entree for myself (we can share 2 aps and desserts, easilly, its usually just 1), and whatever my guest wants (if it is my friends b/day dinner)
When the bill(s) come, I'll just make sure they are straight before i pay. If the 18% wasnt added to my OOP items, I'll kick that in, and then unless the server did something exceptional to warrant any additional gratuities, we'll be on our way

If you are using the Disney Dining Plan to pay for part of your table's orders and paying oop for the rest, or ordering items not covered by the DDP, you will get two checks/receipts. The 18% will be included on each of them.

I was hoping for 2 receipts - would be easier to keep track of credits and our OOP budget.
Somehow, reading the DDP threads, I was under impression it was all on one receipt.

Being 1st time on DDP and during Free DIning to boot, would like to keep meal migraines to a minimum. :headache:

you will get two receipts! We always have anyway. They have to run them like that.

I always order what I want using diining credits at CS then do a separate order for the stuff I know I will have to pay OOP. It usually isn't much, but when DD was under 10 I did purchase lunch entrees ala carte to allow her to eat what we were eating.
At TS the server will separate the items and bring 2 reciepts--be careful with tipping since the 18% is added in on the OOP as well.
