Just got a new cell phone (actually, it's my Dh's old one..he just got a new one and got took his older one...it's actually only a year old) BUT anyhow, I told him that I was going to go buy an MP3 player so I can use it while I go for my walks. He then tells me that I can upload some songs onto my phone and use that. :thumbsup2 COOL BEANS!!!

But now, I'm at a loss at where to start at making a list of songs. I know this should be a no-brainer LOL but I like all kinds of music and would like to have a big variety but don't know where to start? I like everything from AC/DC, Nickelback & Metallica to Rascal Flatts, Air Supply and Barry Manilow. LOL So do you just sit with a pen/paper and think of all the artists that you like and which songs you like from them? Please help. LOL

I'd definitely try it, but don't be surprised if you wind up with an MP3 player anyway. I have a Blackberry and have poked at the music uploading a bit, but I still like my iPod. (I had my iPod for 4 years before BB).

I have several playlists which reflect my different moods or what I'm doing. I'm not sure how your phone will work, but mine are great. I use upbeat stuff for cleaning and walking (80's gal here...). I can also sort by genre (sometimes I like DS's Dragon Force, or just want to listen to Christmas or World Music, etc.), and I can listen to my audiobooks. BB screws up the audiobooks which have separate tracks for chapters.

Best wishes, and let us know if you find any good tricks!

go to shape.com or pick up a shape magazine. they have suggested playlists for different length/style workouts that might be fun for you to try.

with itunes there are genius playlists that are really fun to do...you put in a song you like and it suggests a playlist based around that song. my husband has created some really great ones that way. not sure if other music sources are like that.

have fun!

Vary the tempo of the songs and minimize or avoid the really slow stuff.:)

I teach indoor cycling -so I spend hours on this stuff.
Where will you download your music from?

Jot down a few ideas and start with those. Shape as previous poster suggested has exercise playlists. I-tunes does as well. They are under Itunes essentials

There are also CDs of exercise music -you could look on Amazon to give you some ideas.

I didn't get all my playlists at once -It was a gradual occurrence.

Use slower stuff for your cool-down.

If you need some specific recommendations let me know.
The wish forum here on the boards often has a music for exercise thread going.

You could also do a search here on the community boards. Someone asks for suggestions about once a month
