How to clean a vera bradley?

I just bought a bag off ebay and even though it is new with tags it has a couple of stains on it. Any ideas of what I could use to clean it?

I hand washed one of my bags and it completely faded. I would try spot cleaning it with some white bar soap.

I just put it in the washer....cold wash/cold rinse.... regular detergent added oxyclean...normal cycle....dryer low for a cycle and hang it up to finish drying

I've done this too. I always wash them in the washer. Just make sure that if it has one of the cardboard bottoms, that you remove that before washing.

I machine wash cold water on gentle cycle. I use a mild detergent without bleach. I also add 1/2 to 1 cup of vinager to set the color and keep it from fading. I don't put it in the dryer, I hang it up.

I use a toothbrush and a bar of Ivory soap. Then put it in the sun to dry.
I do the same thing with my cloth Dooney.
I've always had great results!

Use a detergent for dark colors - I think Cheer makes one, and maybe woolite. It will say on the label that it's made for dark colors.

I'm another one who throws them in the washer. I put mine in a lingerie mesh bag so that the handle doesn't get all tangled with my clothes. Regular detergent (I think I currently have Wisk with colorsafe bleach), regular cycle, cold or warm wash, hang it up to dry. I would imagine that a color safe pre-treater (I use Shout) would take out any stains.

Just washed my Hope Garden bag yesterday to prep my "summer" purse and I'll be washing my "winter" Java Blue purse the same way once it's dry and I transfer everything over. Yay summer's coming!! :yay:

Did you use woolite or something similar meant for delicates?

It was either that or the all free & clear. This was over a year ago so I can't remember! Since then I have been very hesitant to wash any of my vera bags. I'm going to try what other people have posted!

I have a little hipster and it does have a cardboard or something in between the lining and outside on the bottom. I see no way to take it out of there. Sounds like it will be a problem to put in the washer.

I was wanting to buy another in a different color so I would have two of them. Love everything about it. Now i'm not so sure if it will be a problem to keep clean.

I put mine in a pillow case when I wash them and hang them to dry and they have always looked great when I take them out.

After you wash it, spray it with some Scotchguard fabric spray. Helps keep mine clean for a long time. I spray it every 5 - 6 months.

Quoting myself, went to a Vera Bradley store and was told that most of the bags that you can not take the cardboard out of is actually a thin plastic and that it is ok to wash them.

On the Vera Bradley site for the little hipster there is a place that says 'DETAILS & CARE TIPS' I clicked on it and it said 'Machine wash cold, gentle cycle, only non-chlorine bleach when needed, line dry'
I feel better about it and bought another little hipster in a different pattern. :)

Great information! I also bought a little hipster, but I haven't even taken the tags off yet, so I am glad to know I can wash it!
