Hey Y'all! Can anyone help me figure out how to clean one of those foam couch for kids? My boys have a Spiderman one that they've had for awhile now and I'd like to clean it but not sure how. We also bought them a Cars chair from a garage sale this morning and want to clean it up before we bring it in (it looks clean - I'm just kind of weird like that!). Any suggestions?? I looked on the label but didn't see anything. I don't think the couch will fit in my washer - should I take it to the laudromat? The chair might fit in the washer but I'm not 100% sure.

TIA for any help!

First off for the one you bought at the yard sale unless you know the people you bought it from, one rule I've learned about any kind of soft or upholstered furniture is don't bring it in the house for at least two weeks. My Aunt bought a used couch which was infested with cockroaches. I've heard the same said of people who end up with bedbug and lice infestations (also certain kinds of intestinal worms - eewww). If the one you bought this morning is small enough put it in a garbage bag and seal the bag tight to help keep anything that's alive from getting into your house.

As far as the actual cleaning - rent a rug doctor with the upholstery cleaner. It does a great job. I use them all the time.

I would set it in a kiddie pool with detergent and bleach, squeeze out the excess by stomping on it with my feet then sit it outside in the hot summer sun to dry. If anything is living in it some time in the garage to crawl out would be a good idea, I leave my luggage in the garage for 2 weeks after every trip for the same reason.

Thank you all for the tips! I so didn't even think about anything living it in! :scared1: I washed the covers yesterday and sprayed them all with bleach and water and let them sit outside in the sun until I could get back here to see what y'all thought.

Thanks again!!
