How to celebrate children's birthday?

Hi!

We are going on our very first Disney cruise for 3 nights on the Disney Wonder on May 5, 2005 (as soon as dh sends in deposit this week!) Our son will be celebrating his 12th on Saturday, May 7th while we are at Castaway Cay. Any suggestions for a special birthday celebration? Does the kid's club do anything special?

Also, is anything special done for Mother's Day?

Just let your servers know that your child is having a birthday and they present a nnice, small cake to them at dinner that night. I have a child that always celebrates her birthday on the cruise as it is always during spring break vacation. I have sent her baskets from The Perfect Gift -- Shirley is wonderful! As for Disney itself, I think they just do the cake thing. In the kids club, my child got an Oceaneers Hat with a birthday pin on it and since he's a pin fanatic, and not everyone has that birthday pin, he was thrilled.

As above, DCL does the cake and a round of "Happy Birthday" from the serving staff.

For DD's 13th, I hit the local card outlet and got stuff to decorate the door. This proved to be a great idea as many fellow cruisers wished her a HB based on the door. Also, many of the little girls on the hall commented on the decorations. I spent less than $10 for the stuff and put it up myself, which included a centerpiece for the dinner table.

DCL has a room decorations package that you can order in advance. I think it's $30 for the standard, $50 for the deluxe. They also have cruise gift packages. Shirley also has wonderful gift baskets.
