How to book a split stay

Hi..I'm wondering if one has to book two separate packages to book a split stay. We arrive June 9, which allows us to book at the spring package rates, however if we change resorts, and have to book it as a separate package, we won't qualify for the second portion of our stay. I don't see any way to do it as one package when booking on line, and when I called to inquire, they said it would need to be two separate packages, but I also know sometimes cast members don't have all the info and can be wrong.
Does anyone have any experience with this?

Each hotel stay is considered a separate reservation so I believe the CM is correct.

It will be 2 separate reservations and the second won't qualify for the discount.
