We want to book a 10 day stay at our home resort at 11 months. I know that I can only book 7 nights in a row. So, how does that work then? Let's say I wanted to book January 5-14. I could call on February 5th to reserve January 5-11. Right? Do I then call back each day for the 3 extra days (i.e. call on Feb 6th for January 12th, etc) or do I have to wait until February 11th to add the 3 extra days?

Thanks DIS friends!

You could call everyday, but since the room is removed from bookable inventory (not bookable by anyone else until after the 11th) I'd call back on the 10th to add 12th to the 14th.

Last year I booked 10 days for Jan. 2011, when I called at my 11 month window to make the res the CM said I see all 10 days open would you like to book them now, I said sure. When I called back at 7 months to move it to another resort the same thing happened, 10 days at once, only one call. Is that common?

no, if you called at exactly the 11 month window (jan 10th to book dec 10th, for example), that would actually be against the rules...

(but if you called jan 15th to book dec 10th for 10 nights, yes, that is more common...)

My trips are always more than 7 days. I always book my first 7 days, then I call back each morning and add another day until I'm done. I know I could wait and book them all at one time, but I just can't do that, no matter how many times I think I might. I guess it also depends where you are booking, what time of year and what type of room. Since I often will go for the standard rooms at BWV or BLT during the 11 month window, both can go really fast, so I won't chance it.

If you want to do exactly 11 months out for Jan 5 arrival and Jan 14 departure, you would call February 5 and get Jan 5 to Jan 12 departure (7 nights). You could then call Feb 7 and add the two extra nights (Jan 12 and 13) and get a Jan 14 departure date.

Likely you do not have to do that and can just wait to call Feb 7 and get all your nights at once.

We just (today) added an extra day on to our October ressie for a 1 bd std view @ BWV. I was surprised it was so easy--thought we'd have to wait list.

We also were a few days past our 11 month mark when we made the initial reservation for 10 days, so we were able to book the whole ressie at once.

I think there are actually very few room types that require a call @ exactly 11 months. If a std view @ BWV during F&W doesn't....(yes, I know AKV concierge probably always will.....) ;)

I agree with N2MM, it is too much to wait until the final day to call...

Plus, a little vacation planning each day never hurts anyone.

This is what I do - there is no need to call every day even for high demand rooms once you have the initial 7 days - you are guaranteed to be able to extend as long as you call back before the end of the week :thumbsup2
