I know they're harmless but I really don't like the little critters. We travel annually in September, fluctuating weeks, and in the last 6 years only had one infestation!!!! They were everywhere! Now, thinking of traveling in October next year...are the typically around in early October? Wondering...

Don't know....we just got home this week (Tuesday Oct. 5th) and the Lovebugs were everywhere while we were there. I know not to open my mouth on outside rides (Test track, BTMR, etc). But since I left an infestation of STINK bugs here in WV to go to WDW, the lovebugs were a welcome change for us. Now I'm home and the STINK bugs are still here trying to get into our houses--I would trade them for lovebugs any day!

Love bugs are only around for a couple weeks 2x's per year. Local temperatures have dropped to the 60's last few nights so they may be gone till May 2011.:cool1::banana:

We're here now - arrived Sunday, 10/3. Haven't seen even one love bug. Weather is lovely. We feel very fortunate!

It seems like I've been reading posts about them for several weeks now... when can we expect them to dissipate?

Are you at the BCV? That's where the lovebugs and I'm staying. This is the first time I've ever seen them in October, my third October stay. Saw them very heavy one September (2006?), but hardly at all the following September. And although others have mentioned them in May, we come here every May, and have never seen them then.

I noticed more love bugs at AKV from Sept. 28 to Oct. 2nd, then I saw at BCV from the 2nd to the 4th. I've gone this time of the year in the past, and never saw as many at the resorts as I had this year.

What ultimately drives them away besides the end of mating season? (I've read this is what causes all the chaos). Am I jumping to conclusions thinking that as the "cooler" weather comes the bugs in love go away?

We arrived at WDW on September 29th and saw a fair number of love bugs for the first few days, with the volume decreasing day by day, and then we have not seen a single one the last four days (October 4th on). I think the cooler weather has definitely affected them.

They are definitely attracted to light colors especially white. So of course in the heat of Florida you wear light colors to keep cool. I haven't figured out anything to keep them off of you and the balcony.

We're at the BWV.

Apparently, even the love bugs know that BCV is the place to be for Food & Wine Festival time. I'm sure they booked right at 11 months, though! ;) :)

This is really a key concept. Lovebugs are harmless, but they are a real problem to get out of your teeth!

It's even worse when you snort one! For some reason there are worse in Ft. Myers area, they travel in clouds, yuck!

We were at AKV 9/23 - 9/28. They were heavy at the airport and all over the resorts. Don't remember them being a problem at the MK itself, tho. Same time period two years ago and lots of love bugs there too.

Of course my 6yo girls asked why I called them love bugs.
I told them it's because they like to hug alot. :rolleyes1

We have been all times of year and have seen them only latter part of May early June and September.

Wierd-I moved over here to AKV-Jambo today and haven't seen any here. I guess what CarolMN said was right-they're all hanging out at BCV for the F&W festival.
