How to avoid busy times over the next few months?

Hi,

I'm planning our first trip to DLRP for my wife, 5 yo daughter and myself - sometime in the next few months.

I'm keen to find a time which is unlikely to be very busy - and I'm happy to take my daughter out of school to ensure this.

I think this rules out the period from 19th Feb - 27th Feb - as it is generally the UK half term holidays - which is likely to be busy?

I was thinking about the week before this - but paris.angloinfo.com/information/6/schoolhols.asp seems to imply that is a french school holiday?

So - I'm thinking about either the week starting 7th Feb - or the week starting 28th Feb. Are they likely to be quiet times? Should I schedule the trip later in March instead?

thanks for any opinion - drelda

UK half term holidays in February are often split across the country, so unless there are French school holidays at the same time, you shouldn't find it very busy going midweek in Feb half term. Our first trip to DLP was in a Feb half term, I honestly didn't find it that busy at all.

As a rule, for minimal crowds at DLP, go midweek out of UK and French school holiday/public holiday times :).

We are going February Midterm - as eldest dd is doing her final secondary school exams this year and we really can't take her out of school. I went a few years ago during the February midterm and it was busier than our usual January time slot but a hell of a lot less busy than at Halloween (October Midterm) - we are hoping for the same this year - I did note however that some French schools have a midterm then so it probably will be busy.

Good luck with your plans!

It's worth bearing in mind that if you go when it is not school holiday time, you are likely to find the parks closing early - some weeks as early as 6 o'clock.

i am going the end of feb, first week of march and i hope its not too busy.

i went the week of st patricks day last year and it was busier than i had expected it to be but still manageble
