Hello,

I spoke to our guide today. She does have add on points at our resort for our use year.

The kicker is that we live in Nebraska, and she can not send us the contract to sign.

I'm not sure of all the details. Suffice it to say, our guide said we would need to fly down to sign the contract.

Anyone done this or know a way around this?

Our next trip to the World is in May. My work schedule is HEAVY for December and January, so it would be hard to sneak down to Florida for a couple of days.

I am bummed.

I wonder if you could get it sent to someone else and then they forward it to you.

Unfortunately, I think this is going to be a tough one to get around. They are not licensed to sell real estate in Nebraska and so they can't sell to a Nebraska resident via mail. The only way you can buy points, as I understand it, is to actually physically present yourself at the offices in Florida and buy on the spot. You can, however, buy via resale and not have the same restrictions (as I understand it). Another question is whether the licensing issue is for the particular resort you want to buy, or for all the resorts.

DVC has to be licensed by each individual state in order to sell points remotely for each resort. One possibility would be to ask if they could sell you points at another resort. Not sure if that's of interest to you or not.

I don't know that sending the paperwork to another address would work. Most states probably go overboard in trying to protect consumers from shady timeshare salesmen. Of course, the folks who have benefitted from this protection probably wouldn't agree with that statement. ;)

This pertains to ALL of the DVC resorts I'm afraid.

Maybe we should make lemonaid out of lemons. DH will be so "glad" to hear that we "have to" go to Florida to sign for more points.

What a perfect excuse to plan a trip to WDW! :cool1:

I can not imagine any way that DVC would agree to send a contract to another state to be forwarded on to the actual buyer! :earseek:

Congrats on your addon.

I think you would be able to contact an attorney in Florida and have them be "you" at the closing through a power of attorney. You would have to check with a attorney there and it may be cost prohibitive, but, in theory, it would work.

Good Luck
