How to activate a complimentary theme park ticket

We have never had experiences with this before (DH and I are annual passholders) and are asking for my DSIL and DBIL.... they had a complementary tickets assigned to them and it shows up under her MDE. How are these tickets activated?

If it is just a complementary ticket that Disney gave you should be able to just assign it to the correct person and then use a magic band to go in. If you do not have the card, a magic band, or it was given in an email with a pdf that needed to be printed out then you have to go to Guest Service outside of the park to exchange them for the hard plastic ticket before entering.

yes it it! They get magic bands soon...so they dont have to "activate" it by going to guest services or anything? As long as it is assigned to them under MDE and use the magic bands, they can get right in?

They shouldn't have to. Were they emailed something by Disney? Usually when guest services gives you a comp they give you the plastic card but the last time I had one they gave us the option of just applying it to our MDE account since we had magicbands or we could choose to take the plastic cards. We didn't have to activate them or anything as they were already good to use.
