How thick does it need to be?

How thick does the marker/pen need to be so that the gloved characters can more easily sign an autograph book?

Some one recomended those 'click' sharpies... but when I went to the store to check them out they didn't seem 'thick enough' to really make a difference.

What kind of writting tool works best?

The retractable sharpies work great. The bigger the better though because the characters really appreciate it!! I sometimes do some costumed character work (not at WDW though) an those costumes are hard too function in somtimes, so a thicker marker would wor better....but I have seen all sizes of pens/markers used.

We used Sharpies on our last trip and all the characters were able to use them without too much difficulty.

Sharpies are great. We were told though, that they can't use green. Apparently it's too hard to get out of their gloves?

Thankfully, a cast member had a pen they lent us that time! The green sharpie was the only one I had thrown in my fanny pack that day!

Sharpie makes a very fat sharp pointed marker. It's about twice as big around as a regular sharpie is. This is what we've used for the past several years for the characters to sign with, and it works very well.

We used the retractable Sharpies and had no issues. I tried to hand them to the characters already clicked out & in the proper position, but if it wasn't, the character had no problems with it. I think my son may have gotten it to Donald too soon and left a blue dot on his hand, but my husband swears it was already there.

We used a green Sharpie for a couple of the autographs and nothing was ever said to us. I tried not to use it, since I had read on here about the problems with green, but I couldn't find the blue one at those times.

I like the Kooky Pen from Staples. It has a clip and it retracts!
