How tall are 2 & 3 year olds?

Our little one was 37 inches at his 2 year old well visit in October. Hope he will be 40 inches when we go in October of this year but I am still not sure he will be ready for any of the 40 inch rides.
I plan to try Goofy's coaster and gage whether or not he can handle thunder mountain, and may consider trying test track. Guess we will play in by ear. He might decide he wants to try it all and that will be fine but I am not counting on it.

DS was 36 inches at his two year checkup.

My DS has always been tall for his age. We went in October and he was 40" at 2 1/2 and was able to do most of the big kid rides.

This varies greatly. I have two 2-year-olds. My 29-month-old is 34", 30 lbs, and can wear 18-24 months/2T. My 27-month-old is 37", 35 lbs, and can wear 3T/4T. My two couldn't ride most everything with a height restriction this past week.

My DS has been right around the 50% since about age 2 (so totally average) and he was just barely tall enough to ride Barnstormer when he went at age 2 1/4 (so 35ish inches) and he hit 40 inches right at his 4th birthday. So if you'd assume both kids are about average height, they probably both will be able to ride Barnstormer and rides without height restrictions, but not any of the bigger rides (most of the height restrictions start at 40 and then 44, 48). There wasn't much change in what he could ride between his 2 year old trip and his 4 year old trip - once he was 4, more rides opened up to him, LOL.

My DD was 2/12 when we took her, she is tall for her age she was 39", she rode the barnstormer no problem, test track and she got to ride all the normal rides just fine like Dumbo, A special bar was put on her for the rapids ride (she was under the height), and she did not get to go on the Dino ride (the checked her there and was quickly told no) they don't budge with the height when its required although there are a ton of rides that have no height requirements

My kids could all ride the 40" rides at their 3.5 year old trips. They were on the tall side of average. Have fun!

My boys are tall my middle just turned 3 and he is 40in and my oldest just turned 5 and he is 45in tall.

My daughter just turned 3 and is 35 inches. She is on the tiny side and always has been. She has grown 14 inches since she was born!

My almost three and a half year old was just at 40 inches when we went in January. And actually the first day of the trip, was turned away from the 40 inch requirement but by day three was tall enough. Same shoes, same boy. Maybe he grew a 1/4 inch on day two???

At that age, I'm not sure I'd let them go on any ride with a height restriction even if they just barely made the cutoff as they're still so young and it's more of a maturity issue than a size issue.

I think if my 2 year old, even though he's tall enough, went on Goofy's Barnstormer he'd be screaming in terror.

So keep in mind the maturity of the kids and even though they may seem excited at the "idea" of going on a ride, actually getting on line and getting on the ride may be too much. Don't push, have fun and you'll find there are lots of fun things for the little ones to do. Just being at Disney is quite stimulating - sometimes adding the "thrill" of a thrill ride can push an otherwise calm kid over the edge. (BTDT, not doing that again! )

At almost exactly 2.5 my Ds was 40". He is not quite 3.5 yet and is about 41-42" (I can't keep him still to measure properly).

BUT I am 5'10" and Dh is 6'5" so you have to take that into account. I don't think most 2.5 year olds get to ride on splash mountain.
I wasn't going to let him ride anything when we went to DL last year but, he was throwing a fit to go on Matterhorn so I let him. He also rode BTMRR and LOVED it.
