How tacky is this?

This is our first time on the DDP and we are on the regular dining plan, so we get one snack, one QS and one TS per day. However, each of our meals will include an entree, side, desert and drink, right? I have no idea how we will eat all of that food!! Many of our TS meals will be buffets where we will stuff ourselves to the gills...

I was wondering how tacky is it to use zip locks to bag up our desserts to use as a snack later in the day? I'm not talking about stealing from the buffet, but when we get a piece of cake with lunch and we don't want to overdo it, but we don't want to toss it either, is it feasible to pack it up and then eat it later?

You'll find that most of the counter services desserts are already in packages making them very easy to save for later.

Thank you!! This is exactly the info I was looking for!

I am not looking to take food from the buffets... clearly stated... so no popcorn allowed!! :goodvibes

Most CS deserts are already packaged so it's pretty easy to just take them back with you to the room to enjoy at a later time.

You won't need to bring your own bags. Like it was said, QS are usually already to go. But TS servers will be more than happy to wrap anything up to go, including dessert. Just make sure it will survive the rest of the day/night being carried around in the heat and on rides until you are ready to eat it.

At some of the non buffet table service restaurants we got our desserts to go. Our server boxed them up for us no problem. I can't believe I'm saying this because I LOVE dessert, but the DP was just too much dessert for us. We ended up with a stack of desserts in our room after 4 days!

I don't think you would need a ziploc bag. Dining or no dining plan, can't you just ask for it to go? I figured that is probably what we will do since we probably couldn't eat that much food either. Most of our TS are for dinner so we figured we can take our dessert back to the hotel and relax there.

We have done this before bc like others have said MOST are alreasy packaged. the only one i have gotten that i can recall that wasnt was the apple crisp dessert at CHH. we just wrapped it in a napkin and saved it! and it was just as delicious later!

This is what steered us away from the DxDP this time. I usually want my dessert a few hours after dinner. I wish we could somehow separate desserts from the meals on the DP. WDW would benefit since they'd sell us a few more cocktails and cappucinos at dessert time.

All of the restaurants we went to in January were very accomodating when we requested our desserts to go, so my sisters and I ended up having them for breakfast the next morning....if only our mother knew what a healthy breakfast we had :rolleyes1

You do not need a ziplock. The a la carte restaurants will pack them for you. Of course you then have to carry them.

CS desserts are already packaged for the most part. If you want a dessert that is packaged, you will be able to choose one. And you have already noted that it is not your intention to take desserts from the buffet.

I was planning on this next week when we go and I have a nice sturdy lunchbox/cooler that Im planning on bringing with some freezer packs to keep the leftovers in! I also was

I personally don't see anything wrong with saving your dessert as a later snack. For my Sept trip, I'm on the DDP too and am planning on saving any chips that comes as a side (the ones in the package), or whole fruit, or my pre-packaged brownie/cakes to eat for later. Like you stated, since you're not taking food from the buffet or anything like that, you can do whatever you like with the food you are entitled to. :thumbsup2

I'm allergic to most of the deserts at Disney so I usually get something to munch on later for my desert. It's never been a problem to get fruit, chips, allergy-friendly snacks, and bottled drinks as my desert on the DDP. You shouldn't need to bring bags for leftovers. Most CS is pre-packaged and the CMs are happy to wrap up things at TS restaurants. I've heard that some of the CS at the resorts will sign your receipt so you can return within an hour or so and get ice cream but I've not done it before. Maybe someone else can chime in with how that works?

We've done this before at both Pop Century and POR....at the register when they were ringing up our meal, we mentioned we wanted to get ice cream after we finished our dinner and the cashier just stamped our receipt and said we could return to the ice cream counter up to 1 hour from that time and redeem our desserts....it was a very simple process and we will definitely be utilizing this again in August

I don't see how it is tacky at all :confused3 You clearly stated not buffets...the rest is food you have paid for either by purchasing the plan or buying a package with free dining.

I know the places will package for you, but I brought a soft-sided cooler with ice (from hotel) and ziplocks. Some of the packaging used by the restaurants or counter service would not fit in my cooler or was not water tight (so condensation would get in there). So I think the Ziplocs can still be handy.
