How strict is the age limit at Palo?

I have a group of six adults and one 16 year old traveling this summer. Do you think we could all get a meal at Palo? Has anyone tried it?

Strict - You have to provide birthdates for every member of your party so they know how old everyone is. From what I have heard anyone 17 or younger is a no-go at Palo

Let the adults go to Palo. Trust me, the 16 yr. will be able find something to eat and do for and hour. There were times when my then ds-13 begged not to go to dinner with us.

Yes, they are very strict about the age in all adult areas as they should be. This is one of the reasons we go back.

Most cruiselines have adult areas, but they do not enforce the rules. When you let just one bend the rules, you have to let all the others too.

I have to agree. Its wonderful to be able to enjoy an evening amongst adults. And once the rule gets bent its pretty hard to straighten it out again.
Tell the teen its a treat for being an adult.

Based on how old your kid(s) are you / they might be able to get into some of the adult only venues like the pool, cove cafe, entertainment district after 9. But Palo is a different story. At Palo NO ONE under 18 and they have your KTTW card for verification.

You shouldn't plan on your teen getting into any of the adult areas. They can and do check KTTW cards if a CM has any doubt. KTTW is encoded with birthdays!

Let your teen go to dinner on his/her own or go to The Stack. There will be a teen party every night (each with a different theme.) My DD loves The Stack. Besides, I'm sure she'll tell me this year that "there are hot guys there." Seems to be her standard line......

Depending on who your server is, you might be able to take some food back to your stateroom. (One cruiser posted how her server gave her a bowl of their 'to-die-for' whipped cream to take back to her DD.)

I know they know and enforce the age limit at Palo......but the enforcement in the other areas was sadly lacking on our March 2004 cruise. There were strollers in the spa!

This happened in some other adult areas on our last Wonder cruise. My husband called guest relations and asked them if the policy had changed for kids being allowed in over 18 areas. He was told no and then he asked them why kids were in specific areas. After that, we did not see any kids around the adult areas.

As someone said on a different thread, it seems like it is the adults causing the problem by allowing their under aged children in areas they know are for adults only. Good examples to show the kids!

When I was at the spa, there was two children under 10 running around the waiting area and dripping ice cream all over. The spa CMs were right there and didn't say anything. I wouldn't even let DD stand in front of the door when we were waiting for DH to finish up.

For what it's worth (perhaps nothing at all ) I don't believe the spa employees are Disney CMs, but belong to the subcontractor. Certainly doesn't excuse them from ignoring policy, however....

No one under 18....if they do it for one, they would have to do it for all.

Believe me..your 16 year old will have much more fun eating with people his/her own age than sitting in Palo for two hours listening to a bunch of adults.

Thx for all the feedback, it's our 25th anniversary this month and my parents and daughters will be cruising and just one of them isn't 18, so I was hoping for an exemption....

I completely agree that adult areas should remain adult areas but there is a huge difference between a stroller or 10 year old running around and a quiet, reserved 16 year old girl. Again, I do totally appreciate the Quiet Cove pool, the spa and fitness center and the other adult activities...truthfully she would probably be bored at a long dinner!!

Hi Debbie! Doin' fine and getting ready for our September 10th Western! Was thinking about all of you on the repositioning cruise. Hope all is well with you! The rest of the Jefferson contingent say hello!

Disney is pretty good with keeping the adult areas that way. Kind of a shame for the older teens that would go with family to Palo, but the line has to be drawn to keep things fair to all. A few very well behaved teens in the adult pool spas later in the evening that everyone turned a blind eye to....
