How strict are they on height requirements for child swap?

Gosh, that is tough on your DS. I hate vomitting when I am ill, to vomit all the time would be just about unbearable. Of course you should warn CM about motion sickness and using child swap would be justified. I think the other poster meant people using motion sickness as an excuse not a real reason.

I've never needed to use BS before but will on my next trip (DD will be 18m) I don't know how to use BS. Our other daughter is 6 so she should be able to ride most things. What do we have to do to use baby swap? Also, I 've read you need a wristband for extra magic hour evenings. Where do you get those? Thanks again.

I explained Baby Swap, aka Parent/Guardian Swap in detail on post #11 of this thread. If you have questions after reading that feel free to post them as I have used it quite often.

Wrist band distribution locations will be easy to find at the evening EMH parks. Just look for the sandwich type signs all over the park starting early evening indicating where to get the wristband FWIW, every member of your party must show their resort id (even children) and adults may need picture id as well.

Some of my DS's disabilities include Sensory Integration Dysfunction, Vestibular Occular Dysfunction and Dyspraxia. So I'm not being mildy obnoxious when I say he will get motion sick I am being realistic. I can't get in a car and drive 30 min's w/o a puke bucket or even walk into a restaurant w/o him getting sick if he finds the smells offensive (ask the folks at the mexican restaurant in Epcot about us freaks (me and DS) who where there at the end of December who spent the entire lunch time in the bathroom for him puking while the other kids were eating w/ my sister). Then our gracious waiter sat DS at another table (which meant he was giving up another customer and tip) away from food so I could actually eat my lunch. I am not abusing the system, DS has a disability, would you want to get on a ride right after him if he just got sick? I would think they would shut the ride down long enough to clean up then that would inconvenience how many people? I think I am being VERY considerate in not taking my DS on these rides I know will make him sick. That way the CM's aren't cleaning it up and the guests are not delayed in getting to ride.
So anyone can think what they want but until they've walked in my shoes.....

Then you should inquire about getting a GAC for your son, not a baby swap? Although a GAC has to be used by the person it was intended for, so he would be expected to ride, hmmm.

Why not just tell the CM your son has sensory issues, not that he'll vomit all over the place and you're not going to clean it up?

We went on R-N-R a few weeks ago and I went up to get a CS ticket. It was the first time I had ever needed one at Disney and was taken back when the CM asked to see my daughter. She was off getting popcorn with hubby and when I told the CM that she granted me a pass with a small attitude. Untill reading this thread I had no idea why.

I see they have changed things a little since we were there last...i.e. the swap ticket thing...but we were unable to "child swap" when our 5 yr old DD was JUST tall enough to ride Dinosaur. The CM said she was "too tall"...she was crying just standing outside the ride...so I never got to ride last time : (

Why would your DD cry because she was qualified to ride the ride? :confused3

Are you sure it wasn't you who were crying? :rotfl:

Hmmmm....the GAC is used for my DS. We FP the attractions we want to ride, then 1 adult will ride w/ my other 2 kids and 1 adult goes off w/ special needs DS to do whatever attractions he can do with his GAC. The only time the GAC comes into play is when the group enters the attraction on the FP, and we are explaining why he can't ride (since height requirement is not a valid reason) and why we need a swap for the other parent to come back and ride later. We then meet back up 30 min's or so later and parents swap kids so the other parent can ride the attraction if he/she wants to. All the while DS is off using his GAC when needed for himself. It does no good to tell anyone your kid has sensory issues as my experience tells me that about 90% of people don't have a clue what you are talking about and look at you like you have 3 heads. At WDW it's actually like you have 5 heads like your trying to get something you shouldn't. Now if they don't want to help accomodate special needs, then they should state so in their policies and we would choose to vacation somewhere else.

I was under the impression that the GAC was tailored to the needs of each individual?

I don't see why it would be such a big issue for them to put on the card that your son needs to use child swap even though he meets and/or exceeds the height limit.

I would ask for a supervisor at Guest Relations to explain that you're willing to wait in the line, but would really like to use the child swap because of your son's disability. Any reasonable (and reasonably intelligent) person would never deny you that.

I'm really surprised that they've made it such a problem for you. Disney's usually pretty good about helping out disabled guests.

This sounds like a good plan. You posted earlier that you would show the CM your son's GAC and get to do the child swap. I'm confused on what you are asking for :confused3
