How strict are they about ordering off kids menus?

My DS is a light eater and tends to eat chicken fingers, hamburgers, pizza, etc. when we dine out. He hasn't yet found his "adult palate". Even though he is 12 (and tall for his age) will they still let him order from the children's menus? This is a big concern for me and if they don't, we may have to scrap quite a few sit down dinners with him.

I have a friend (an adult woman) who orders off the children's menus because she's very picky.

My 15 yo DD orders off the kids menu all the time without a problem....she has yet to find her adult palate too.....

I'm 20 years old and I have ordered off the kid's menu when I'm not that hungry. They dont care.

My teens have also ordered off the kids menus. Sometimes we'll get a double order if they're hungry. I always ask them that if they'll make an adult size portion we'll be happy to pay but they've never taken me up on it. Don't worry, Disney seems to be very flexible about these things as they want everyone to be happy.

There have been reports in the past that adults/teens that ordered off the childs menu were charged almost double and got a little more food than normal on it. Beware this is a possibility when you get your bill.

If they have issue with you offering off the kids' menu, why not just do an appetizer or salad, rather than a full entree. Hopefully, you will have no issue ordering off the children's menu.

We never had a problem sometimes you just don't wat a big meal.  party: party: party:

LOL...I'll be ordering off the kids menu when we go to Akershus!!

We just returned and my DS (12) ordered off the children's menu the entire week we were there. He is extremely picky with a small appetite so this works well for him.

The only time a waitstaff ever said a word when we asked for a child's menu was at the LTT for lunch. He said it was because my DS was over 9 why he wasn't provided one before we asked. He then ordered off the child's menu there at no problem at all.

Many times the waitstaff asked my DS is he would like a child's menu so it was never a problem.

The only time this is not acceptable is at buffets. There is a set price for all over age 9 so you will be charged the adult price no matter what he eats.

Have a great trip!
