How spread out is the Polynesian?

We really want to stay on a monorail resort this year. Previously, we've stayed at the WL and CBR. The thing we liked A TON more about the WL is that everything was basically in one location; whereas, CBR is completely spread out over a huge area of land.

We've considered staying at the Contemporary Tower, but it is significantly more expensive than the Polynesian.

So... how spread out is the Polynesian? If we get put in the furthest "island" how long does it take to walk to the main building?

I guess we would consider the GF as well... their garden view rooms are cheaper than the Tower too. How spread out is the GF?

We stayed in Tokelau last summer and like it a lot. It was about a 2 minute walk (walking slowly!) to the main bldg. and the Volcano pool. The quiet pool was right there. And it was a short walk to TTC to catch the direct monorail to Epcot. It's really not too spread out at all. Nothing like CBR.

It's no more than a 5 minute walk from anywhere to the Great Ceremonial House at the Poly. Shouldn't be a problem ( unless it's raining cats & dogs :>) )

The Poly is pretty compact. On the maps, it looks spread out, but each longhouse practically touches the next, so it's not as bad as it seems. And the walk to the GCH is sooo pretty, whatever longhouse you stay in! We love the Poly, with it's great island atmosphere, music, the tiki torches at night, the beach, the friendly cm's saying "Aloha" everytime they pass, it's just beautiful!

Have fun!!

Edited to add: I forgot you asked about the GF - there is more walking at GF, the buildings are more spread out than the Poly. GF is a beautiful resort, we enjoyed it, but we love the Poly, and find it more fun.

We were pleasantly surprised at how compact the Poly actually is. It looks so big on the map. We stayed in one of the longhouses that is considered "far" from everything. Our walk to the GCH was quicker than the walk to the lobby that we had at the WL and AKL (of course we were the furthest room away at both). One of the things we really loved about the Poly was that it did not feel spread out too much.
The GF is personally our favorite. It is a little more spread out than the Poly, but not bad either.
We love both resorts and will stay at both of them again. It really comes down to which one we can get an AP code for our stay.
