How splashy is splash mountain these days?

I wouldn't mind a splash, but don't want to get soaking wet socks, shoes, etc as that would be uncomfortable. Anyone been on splash mountain lately? How wet did you get?

It's always very random. You always get splashed from somewhere. The drop isn't where I usually get soaked. It's the little dark drop going into the Laughing Place where it dips and then dips again. Sometimes a back splash will come from behind and get my pants and shoes. It probably happens 1 out of every 8 or 9 times. But that would never keep me from going on my favorite ride of one of my favorite movies. And yes, I own it!

We rode it on Tuesday, and neither DH nor I got soaked. Yes, a little wet, but not soaked. We were sitting in the back 2 seats. However, the 1st person and the 3rd person in our log got SOAKED. It is very random. I've sat in the same seat before and got totally wet, so you never know. If you don't want to get that wet, then I wouldn't ride it or ride it with flip flops and a poncho. Good luck!

I wear leather shoes that would take a long time to dry, so I carry flip flops with me and change into those before going on Splash. I also put my feet up on the railing under the side of the boat and that usually keeps my feet pretty dry. What I really dislike is having to sit down into a puddle when I get onto the ride.

Yeah, it's pretty random. Sometimes you get soaked, sometimes you get splashed. I've sat in all different seats with full logs, empty logs, really full logs. You just take your chances. Part of the Fun! And yeah, it's always the little double bump in the dark.

I don't usually get too wet if I'm in the back of the log or the very front, but last time I rode in the middle. Everything was wet including my underwear. It's part of the fun not to know. If you're going in the summer, you might appreciate the extra wet. It's been in the high 80s and 90s in southern California this week. If I were at Disneyland right now, I'd be begging for a ride on Splash Mountain.

I am with another person who said if you are in a boat with Pooh sized people expect to get wet. I went on with my son and in our boat were two children and two adults (1 who was Pooh sized, not saying which one!). We barely got sprinkled (we sat in the front two seats). I went on later in the day with my daughter (same two front seats) and sat with 3 other adults, so 4 adults (all Pooh Sized) and 1 child. We got SOAKED in the dark inside tunnel drop. I am sure it was because the boat was heavier and went further into the water. It was fine because it was mid-day and 90 degrees, but would not want to do that in the evening or on a cold day. I always tuck my feet up high so they don't get wet, as I hate walking in wet socks and shoes. I also had my kids do the same thing it helps. :) Hope this helps!

I agree with everyone else, getting completely soaked on Splash Mountain is a random experience. Sometimes I come off a little splashed, other times and no matter which seat, I get NAILED with water! We always visit DLR in December, so we bring ponchos and flip flops for the ride and protect our socks/shoes with plastic shopping bags. The weather is too mild for us to walk around with wet clothes all day.

The poncho also protects the tush from wet seats! :-)

Our last trip my 6 y/o and I were in the two front seats. She got completely soaked - hair to feet. I got my shorts and shoes drenched. I've never gotten so wet on that ride in my life. Luckily it was a warm day and we dried out fairly quickly, but I really wish I would've brought an extra pair of flip flops just for the ride. I hate walking around in wet shoes.

I just rode this morning and our log was well .... very heavy. The first person in the boat was soaked. I was in the back with DD and only got a little wet. One splash came up and hit my arm that was around DD. She got a little more wet than I did. I was far more wet on GRR this time around. Though neither drenched me by any means.

Our boat was scraping the bottom most of the ride.

As others said, weight is huge on how soaked you get. Did it twice on our last trip, first run wasn't too bad despite us being big and in the front, probably a 6 on a scale of 1-10. Our second time though we were in the middle, but i'd say the log had a couple hundred extra pounds of weight from our earlier run and everyone came out looking like drowned rats.

Its an absolute crap shoot sometimes its very little sometimes a lot. I have found if you tuck your feet under the rails you can at least avoid getting your feet soaked!

I usually get more water on my from the side, over the rail, than on the drop. That...and the water that flows on the floor of the boat.

single rider, log to myself first thing in the morning. it is not the drop, but the slowing down parts inside that bring the water over the front of the log. Wet is wet!!!

The water level is manipulated depending on how warm a day it's supposed to be. So on a hot day your are more likely to get wet.

From my experience the first two people get really wet. Everybody else gets a little wet but like others have mentioned, if you ride with a couple of large folks, you are likely to get a bit more wet than usual.

This is what we also experienced. The most splashy part was always the drop in the dark, the water comes from the right side and swaps into the log so that the first 2-3 people will have soaked shoes and shorts.

But as others stated above it is always a matter of how the weight of the riders is distributed in the log...

Can Disney adjust the water levels, maybe for the winter so that no one will get soaked?
would be interesting to know if there is a cold-day-mode

If there is it didn't work for me. I've been on it in cool days in Jan before and got soaked big time.
DDs first time on it was a Jan trip and she was drenched from the back seat sitting with her mom. Her mom was barely wet but DD got drenched because wave came up on the left side and got her but only her.
