How soon to rent?

Hi
We are planning a trip to WDW in January and would like to try renting some DVC points at OKW. How soon do we need to do this? We would like to wait another month before making the transaction we just need to solidify a couple of things at work first before making the purchase. Will mid October be to late for a late Jan. rental?

Depending on your dates and the type of unit you want it may already be too late for a January stay. There have been a few reports of people not being able to get what they want in January. January is in "Adventure Season" which has the lowest points-per-night and is, therefore, very popular with DVC members. I'd jump on getting that reservation as soon as possible.

If you are hoping for the early part of the month, I'd say you might be way too late. If you are looking for the end of the month after MLK day, there is a chance, but it might be slim for some unit sizes.

DVC is a timeshare, and as such is designed to be at 95% occupancy all of the time. That means members reserve early to be sure they get what they want. One option for the last month might be to check the rent trade board for reservations already made that are the dates you can work with. That's pretty iffy though.
