How soon to receive and use Developer points after add-on?

We are going to buy at VGC. How soon does an exisiting member typically have access to Developer points after an add on? If we buy the first week VGC is on sale - like on the 25th or 26th (if I can get a hold of my guide!) - how soon would I receive the points and how soon could I book them?

I'm thinking about a quick trip to GCH in Feb for my mom's birthday. Why not, since the points expire in October?

Mine were there the same day the points I purchased showed up.
