How soon to book?

How far in advance do you (and can you) book your resort room? We have friends that are staying at the Poly at the end of Jan. 2005. She called for reservations at the end of March and was told they had no Garden views left, only Lagoon and Concierege. I was surprised since it's not really that crowded at that time of year. We are planning a Oct. 2005 trip and was planning on booking next fall, but maybe I should do it this summer?

I think we ended up reserving about a year in advance for our September honeymoon. That may be a little excessive, but probably the sooner you can do it the better. More likely to secure something you want.

Good question, I'm interested to see what people say to this!

Our last trip was a last minute thing. We booked it about a month before arrival. (It was so fun!!) We got exactly what we wanted (actually we ended up getting a GREAT deal at POFQ).

Our next trip is 10 months off and we haven't booked anything yet. We're not sure when we should do it... We do room only ressies, so I guess we could really book anytime now and just watch for deals. I'd love to have our official ressies made. :teeth:

If I book this summer and then discount codes come out next year for our time frame, can I just apply them to our existing reservation?

I would keep trying to get the room that you want. Ask to see if there is any availability under say a AAA discount.

You can certainly apply codes to an existing ressie. I've applied 3 codes to my current ressie. First AAA, then Disney Visa code, then finally AP code. I booked originally in February for our May trip, had no problem getting the hotel/room that I wanted (Poly, Garden View). I have more updated copies of my reservation than I want to count! You could book now, so you have the piece of mind knowing that you have the hotel/room type that you wanted. You can always discount it later. Just keep watching the boards for discounts and call as soon as they are issued to have the code applied.

"I've applied 3 codes to my current ressie. First AAA, then Disney Visa code, then finally AP code."

So you can apply more than one code to your room? You can get a AAA discount and an AP discount for the same room or only one?

Thanks!

No, I only have one code at a time (I wish I could do 3!). I was simply changing from a AAA discount, to a Disney Visa discount and then finally to a AP discount. My philosophy is to take what you can get and hope for something better, which is why I started out with the AAA rate. AP discounts are not guaranteed, so I atleast had a small discount to start with. The Disney Visa discount was an unexpected surprise, but was then outdone by the AP discount.

Again, sorry for the confusion:wave2:
