How soon after your trip do you start planning?

I just returned from an almost PERFECT trip (rained a few days) and can not stop thinking about how much I enjoyed myself. Pretty much, I ready to make my return to the world. I'm thinking about doing food and wine but not sure when to go.

Anyway, is it too soon to start planning for a trip in Oct or Nov? I'm interested in seeing how soon others dive back in.

BTW... stay tuned for my trip report which will include my "Do's and Don'ts, Winners and Losers, and Awards for the Best and Worst Experiences" during our 10 day adventure!

There is never a moment in time when I am not planning a trip. I usually start planning 1 year in advance and have atleast two trips in plan at most times.

I think I always have one in the works. We just got back two weeks ago and I am already working on February and next June! I wish I could go back sooner but we just cannot justify the airfare. Unfortunately, my planning is kind of on hold until I can make ADRs. Otherwise I know the rest but can't do a whole lot more than dream.

We're usually talking about our next trip while we're still in Disney on our current trip!

And, we're busy planning our Oct/Nov trip now. . .I think planning is half the fun of a vacation (ok...maybe not "half", but you get the idea!)

It's never too early! I've said on FB that my relationship with Disney can be summed up in six words: "Shut up and take my money" (to quote Fry from Futurama). If I didn't live so close and had more vacation time (and so can't justify many multi day trips), I'd be planning a trip all the time!

We had a June trip too. I have a "need" to always be planning a WDW trip. We go every other year too. But this time around we are planning our first trip to DL in SoCal for July 2013. I can't wait until the 2013 rates come out. Then I am not sure if we are going back to WDW in June 2014 or June 2015:banana: If it was up to me I can go for the next three years & love it:love:

I am usually planning future trips before going on the current trip:cool1:. It's never too early to be planning.

On our last couple of trips, we've talked about our next trip during the last couple of days of the trip. Great way to pass the time in lines, etc., and ensures that when we leave, we're looking forward to our next trip, not sad about leaving.

:)

We are going in October and I have been planning for a couple of months. I would have started sooner, except the school system was messing me up with fall break dates.

I don't think it's ever to early to start planning. I usually start the next trip as soon as I get back from the previous one. It helps with the post-WDW-blues.

We came back on June 2 from our yearly week stay and had already booked our next trip for this coming August before school starts back. We have decided that we love being there so much we are going to take the plunge and start getting annual passes to go two or three times a year.
We are officially Disney addicts!!

I started planning my 2013 trip with he kids back in 2010 when DW and I went without the kids.

The planning is different when I bring the kids since they have other interests. We even tested out some restaurants on the 2010 and 2011 trip to see if the kids would like them. Kids are college age but are picky eaters.

Is planning three years in advance necessary? no but I find it keeps me happy. The reason we went on the 2011 trip was because I saw the free dining and how cheap the air fare was while I was planning the 2013 trip.

It normally takes me about 4-6 weeks before I start getting that urge to go back. Then it slowly builds until I can't wait to do more research for a future trip.

I agree with the post above, I am planning on my flight home. It somewhat eases the pain of having to leave.

I usually have my next trip planned before I leave. I'm leaving this weekend for a trip and our Sept trip is already booked and paid for. Last time I was probably home 2 weeks when I decided to book my next trip.

But I'm a WDW nut job and must go at least 2+ times a year.

I usually start thinking about the "next" vacation before I even finish the current one :rotfl:

Yep, we talk about it on the 11 hour drive home. I find it helps with the sadness. We talk about lessons learned, etc.

It depends on how soon the idea for the next trip strikes me. My May trip with my daughters was in the planning even before we took our big January trip, because I heard about the Girl Scout centennial event that was the reason for that trip in the fall and started planning then. And our May trip for next year grew out of the Girl Scout trip this year, as I read about all the Star Wars Weekend stuff and decided it would be a nice time to take a mother-son trip with my teenager. We're taking fewer big annual vacation trips to WDW as time goes by and the kids get older, but we're taking more weekend, special event trips so the planning tends to start whenever the event of the moment catches my eye.
