It happens rather soon after the 1st, I would say around the 4th and the 5th. I believe it's staggered and "magically" happens overnight. I know for a fact that the Epcot Christmas tree was still up on 1/7, when we ran around it finishing the 1/2 marathon. It was gone by Monday, the 9th. Also, the Osborne lights lasted until the 6th or 7th. Bottom line, you'll see some but not all! :)

We were also there for the 1/2 marathon this year and stayed at the Shades of Green. When we left for the starting line that morning the decorations in the hotel were still up, but when we got back, they were gone! The decorations in the parks typically start to come down the second week of January.

In 2005, the Epcot tree was up until the 4th. And yes, when things are taken down, it is "magic". When we went by the location on the morning of the 5th, not only was there no tree, but all the flowers had been replanted so there was no sign of a tree ever having been there-no empty spot. I've been to WDW in the first week of January several times, and it does really vary by a few days from year to year. One year (I think it was 2001), the Epcot tree was up on 1/2, but on 1/4 POOF! No sign of it ever having been there. I suspect, however, that the Osborne lights stay up a day or two beyond the advertised ending date. In 2000, they were supposed to be down the day before I got there. Yet, my first night there, I met people who'd just come from seeing the lights.

hi
much to my amazement they were up until 8th jan this year. including the osborne lights. :sunny:

We left to come home on the 10th, and there were a few assorted decorations still left. We stayed at ASM, and saw them take down the decorations there on the 4th (IIRC) but went to see decoration at other hotels during the week and all were still decorated- ie the gingerbread house at GF (although the gift shop inside was closed)

The Tree at MK was up till 1/8 or 1/9 this year. MGM (Osborne lights) was being taken down on my last day (1/12). There are too many lights to make it a "magical" disappearance. Decorations came down at AKL on 1/5 or so (I dont remember exactly).

We were a little disappointed they were still up when we got there on 1/3 :rotfl2:

We started noticing things coming down starting on the 4th. As of the 5th Main Street was still beautiful and I am not sure when they stopped the music. We saw the Osbourne Lights on the night of the 2nd.
