How small an add-on have you ever done?

We are very intrigued by AKV and would love to have some points there. Right now we have 230 points (150 at VWL and 80 at HHI). There is no way we could do 100 points now, but we could do a small add-on. But I'm not sure if it would be worth it. Do people get 25 point add-ons at places other than their home resort? Is it worth doing it? I'm thinking what would be the benefit? You really couldn't make much of a 11 month ressie with that few points. Would we be better off just adding on to either VWL or HHI?

Some members may add-on 25 points with the intent of using them every 3 years - so with banking and borrowing, they have access to 75 points.

Originally, add-ons at resorts other than your home resort had a minimum purchase of 50 points (and minimum of 25 at your home resort), but that was relaxed a number of years ago to the present policy allowing 25 at any resort.

I got a 30 point VWL through Disney a couple years ago (right after my beloved triple VWL was ROFR'd!) as a consolation purchase. If you pay cash, you can add on for 25 points, I believe that is the minimum. Financing requires a 50 point minimum.

P.S. I also did a 73 point add-on after being on the BCV waitlist (Sep, UY) for 6 months, 29 days. 73 points? That's all they had!

I hadn't thought about the financing. If we did that we could maybe go ahead and get 50 points (or even more). Hum, that opens up some interesting possibilities.

That is exactly what we did yesterday! We added 50 AKV points just to give us that 11 month window for a club level studio for a Fri and Sat night once a year. We have 750 SSR points which is plenty but the idea of AKV CL for a few nights sounded good just to relax at the resort and eat at Boma and Jiko all weekend :rotfl2: With so many different room categories we could even have a week in a value studio.

Well DW and myself have been talking about it a good bit this morning (isn't retirement great). I think I'll be calling our guide shortly and see what the exact figures would be. We're thinking it would be great to have the points so we could do 3 DVC vacations a year and it looks like this would allow that. We'd probably use the AKV points in the Value season only and get the value or standard studios only. So 50 would get us what we need. We might even go 60 or 70. I'll just have to see what Karen has to say.

I own 602 pts at BW and love it there, but I got caught up in the excitement of AKL and decided to buy 28pts there so I can go for a few nites in a savannah view studio for a few days once every three years just for fun. If you just want a relaxing time away from the parks you can use this small ad on for a day or two at the end or beginning of your other DVC vacations.

Well we've decided to go with 75 pts. I've got a call into our guide now. I imagine they are all swamped though, but I hope I hear from her before the day is over. Our thinking was that 75 pts. would let us stay for 6 nights every year in a Savannah view room during the value season (which is fine with us). Add that to our VWL and HHI and all kinds of flexibility open up for us. We could do at least 3 or maybe 4 DVC related trips a year. Can't wait to hear from our guide and get the process going.

The 25 or 50 point add-on seems much more manageable but I guess there are a few small drawbacks such as no discounted $$/pt. I think I'm going to have to have a sit-down talk with DH tonight!!

We added 50 points at BCV to our original 175 points at BCV.

Eventually we are going to add 40pts at both AKV and VWL, but unfortunately we have to wait a little while.

Not to mention that I would love to add 40pts at CV.

I'm only adding on 35 points - figure I can do a stay once every other year. I don't want to finance anything, otherwise I would get more. If/When Contemporary DVC ever opens, I will do a small add on then, too.

Called my guide and left a message saying I want to add a SMALL add on. Figured he could get to all those who want to add more first. Haven't heard back from him yet.

For a 25 point add-on its only $200 more with out the discount or you could think of it as $6775.00 less than the min amount of points (100) to get the discount.

I want just enough to give me a night or two to either wind down into vacation mode or wind down FROM vacation <g> from my stay at BWV

:yay:

Does adding a small amount of pts make it one of your home resorts? If so then I need to find some for BWV and AKL.

We did 30 points at BCV when they were first announced and that was just right for us.

ok, I need help. :confused3

I have 130 pts at BCV, and I was thinking of 25-50 pts at AKV. By using banking and borrowing, I can only use my AKV pts at the 11 month window, but I can use my BCV points at 7 months, right? Just trying to figure it all out!

Yes, at 7 months, you can use BCV points to stay at AKV.
