I voted for Allison, but I like Alison too. I'm not a fan of "creative" spellings.

I prefer *normal* spellings and traditional names. Growing up as "Tommi", I longed to find my name on a pencil, or at least have my name spelled correctly on things. :3dglasses

I voted for Allison because that's my DD's name. We went through the same decision process too - we knew we liked the name, just weren't sure which spelling we preferred. I liked the 2 "L"s and my husband chose the "I". Hardly anyone calls her Allison though, her nickname is Alli. :D

I like Allison. It's unusual without being crazy. Ok, maybe I shouldn't talk with a DD named Remy Kaelynn and a DD named Holland Elisabeth.

I obviously like Alison better. One 'l'. I get lots of compliments about that. It's unique but not confusing. I go by Ali though so what do I know.

Ali

Just a word of advice - if you choose one of the more unusual spellings, be prepared for her name to constantly get spelled wrong. We named our DD Ashleigh and people are always spelling it 'Ashley'. I like the spelling I chose and it seems to fit her - if that makes any sense at all  . Anyway...people are constantly spelling it wrong - and that is fine with me; I knew when I chose the name that it was not the most common spelling. Just something to think about if you decide on one of the more uncommon spellings. BTW, I love the name Allison (or Allyson, Alison, Alyson)!

Kelsea's is always spelled wrong too. I know it bothers her.

I picked Allison, because that's my name. :wave2:

It's funny that people say there are things out now with that spelling - growing up I never found anything personalized. I'd see Alison once in awhile, but never with 2 L's. I was thrilled at age 19 to find a mug with the right spelling on it at Dollywood.

I really don't know...........I like names with a Y as opposed to an i, but not sure with Alyson, or Allyson..........I think I prefer the one L. I know a little girl who is Alicen. Not sure I like that one.

I picked Allyson. I'm a y girl too.;) Although, it'll be hard to find things with that spelling on it. My dd's middle name is Kaytlin. We never find things with that spelling. Her first name, Sara, is often misspelled a lot too.;)

I'm going to suggest that you take a look at what's readily available in monogrammed items before picking a spelling.

My name is Annette. Not horribly unusual, but apparently not in the top 100 or so names. Growing up it was incredibly difficult to find anything with my name on it. It's still difficult to find - in fact DFi and I almost have made a game of it now, any time we pass by a rack of personalized items that look half decent he has to stop and see if they have my name. They almost never do. In the 5+ years we've been together he's found my name on something exactly 4 times. That's not a good average.

Young girls, for whatever reason, love personalized things. It can be quite heartbreaking when all your schoolmates have personalized pencils and notebooks etc and you don't. Also as others have mentioned, unusual spellings get mispelled all the time. I always thought my name should be pretty easy, but even as an adult I keep running into people who don't know how to spell it. I've taken to saying "Annette, with 2 n's and 2 t's". And there are still those who will leave the "e" at the end off.

I remember as a kid getting one birthday card from a friend who obviously wasn't sure how many of what to put in my name. I believe it was spelling "Anetetetetete".

i picked Alison. I like the nick name Ali. My DD is Krystal. tough spelling to find on items (necklaces, pencils, notepads, etc.), but I think that makes her feel special. she's 13.

I would use Allison because it is the traditional spelling. I think spelling names differently is too trendy and you might end up regretting it. We named our daughter Madelyn because her grandmothers name was Lynne. But I sometimes wish I had spelled it the traditional way of Madeline. I also had a friend in school named Allison. It is a very pretty name.

I chose Allison because that was my best friends name in high school..

By the way.. My daughters name is pronounced Amy but spelled Aimee.. I always thought it was so pretty.. Many people have that name but not spelled the way we spelled it.. :flower1: :flower1: :flower1:

I voted for Allison. I agree with the other posters that mentioned like the traditional spellings. I think it just looks better aesthetically.

As you can see from my user name, my parents put a twist on the way they spelled my name. I really like the way they spelled it, it's different but it doesn't look too weird. I have seen many other spellings that just look off. With that said, almost everyone always misspells my name. I even have some family members that spell it incorrectly to this day, I'm 26!

Anyhow, if I could have my parents do it again, I would keep it, but it can be really frustrating at times. People are constantly misspelling it when I give them my info, trying to explain it to people I don't know can be quite a hassle too. It's also really hard to find personalized stuff without having it custom made. I think another poster mentioned this too. When you're a kid, for some reason, stuff like this can bug you. Also, kids would give me a hard time at school. Nothing that I would need therapy over , but they would try to give me a hard time about it being different.

Allison- in my opinion, that would make her nickname "Alli" Very pretty name- one I had thought of for ds... but he was a ds!

We spelled our girls
Tayler instead of a o
Tori instead of a y

It's hard because we can't find anything with their correct spelling on it or people always assume it's spelled the normal way. We still would change it we love the differences in their names.
