I wanted to post a poll to see how it worked and since DH and I have been discussing how we want to spell our DD's name I thought this would be a good question.

How should we spell our DD's first name? Middle name will be Nicole.

What are the options?

We spelled our oldest DD's name differently. It is pronounced Gina, but spelled Jeana (ok, it was supposed to be Jeanna but between DH and the hospital, everything had a different spelling on when she was born. I left it with what was put on the birth certificate  ). Her grandmother (Jean) passed away when I was 7 months pregnant. I am not fond of the name Jean, so I just stuck an A on the end of it. She gets her name mispronounced almost all the time.

Edited to add  I see the choices now! :flower1:

I voted for Allison. I used to work with a girl who's mother spelled hers Alycne - very confusing and often misspelled or mispronounced.

I picked Allison. I've always loved that name and I like the way it's spelled when you use the 2 l's.

I like it that way too.

We named our daughter Kristyn. It seems like everyone misspells her name, including family. Today my daughter is of legal age and she's gotten used to the misspelling, but if we could do it again...we would have to think long and hard.
"Allison" can be found on "name" items in most Gift Shops and stores. :D

I picked Allison because I think that is the most common. I spelled my DD's name Isabelle instead of Isabel or Isabella and I can never find her name on anything personalized.

I like Allyson because I always had fun writing the "Y" in my last name. I know thats weird but girls, especially when they are teens love writing their names fancy.

I like it with one L too Alyson but I love the Y........Aly!

I voted for Allison. I like it better with 2 "l"s. Seems more feminine to me. That's a very pretty combination - Allison Nicole.

I picked Allison. It is so pretty when it is written. And - she will probably have less trouble with teachers and kids writing and pronouncing it in school.

I never liked the look of Allison as well, and it looks like the word All, ALL-i-son . We went with Alison. IMHO, it is prettier ! We even met a man at Epcot who told my DD he prefered her spelling because of the word ALL in the other and his own DD was named Allison! Of course I like it too as it is a little different, have found a few things in stores this way.

I voted for Allyson, but I am a "y" girl. That is probably why my DDs are Ashlynn Jayne and Maiya Victoria!

Well Becka I bet you can guess which one I voted for! Allison is my middle name, hence my screen name. Let me just tell you I spelled my eldest son's with a a non-traditional spelling and now he is 14 and I regret it greatly. Everyone misspells his name, it aggravates him and I've even told him to spell it any way he wants now but he says it will be too confusing. Although I did see his name wrong in the newspaper and he said he just let the reporter do it his way!
