Here's my scenario: Assuming we don't owe a ton of money when we do our taxes in 5 wonderful months, we are going to go to Disney in Aug 08. DH took a new job this year and I am not sure how much we will owe, if any, do to the (maybe) change in tax bracket. Soooo..part of me just wants to wait till February to book my package. But I don't want to lose out, or lose $200. If I book now, and have to cancel in February (if we owe Uncle Sam 4000 obviously, fun money will be gon for a while, which means no Disney in 08 :confused3 ). Will I be able to get my $200 back?

Question 2: We want the DDP no matter what. Obviously, if it is free, I would rather get it free- that would save us $500. Do I book the package without DDP and cross my fingers that I can add it on later, or do I book the DDP and hope they can add a code later? What's the latest you can add DDP? Is there any chance they may change the packages and/or prices between now and Aug 08? OMG, you guys are going to kill me! :rotfl: Thanks!

When I booked the trip for my family, I had also booked for my parents to join us. They were unable to come and I wanted to get a refund for the deposit. I got everything back except the price of insurance (which was about $119). As far as I can tell, you can add the insurance in at a later date and just book the trip and should be able to cancel. However, I only say this about the insurance because when I moved my trip up a few weeks early to take advantage of free dining, they dropped the insurance (not by my instructions) and added it back on for me. I also had no problem moving the time of my reservation. So I suspect if you book for one date and want to postpone, you should be able to (but may have a pricing difference). Best bet is to call and speak with a CM to confirm.

Sadly I have had to cancel a reservation before and had no problem getting my deposit back. I don't know exactly how many days you have to cancel prior to your reservation in order to get a refund...the CM will have this information when you book.

If I recall correctly packages have a $200 deposit and then have to be paid in full 45 days before your trip. If cancel before 45 days your deposit is fully refundable. If any changes made to the package prior to 45 days no fees are accessed. (under 45 days fees are accessed for downgrades to your package. How much the fee is depends on how many days left til your trip. I almost positive no fees are accessed for upgrades to a package)

So you could book the package now and make you final decision in Feb with no problems. Then you can keep and eye on the codes board for discount packages or free dining package. When the codes do come out call asap that morning have the best chance at availability at your resort. I want to say the free dining package came out in April or so. With that time frame you would still be ok to make changes.

Now all this information is relying on my old brain...so make sure you verify it all. Cus the brain does play tricks on me :)

Thanks guys, I really appreciate it! So much knowledge on here!
